This book was really touching at moments..that was really surprising! I found myself tearing up constantly! lol 

this is a reread for me! this was my favorite series as a teen, and with sarah rees brennan's new book out now, i wanted to revisit her old writing and remember what i loved so much about this one. i have mostly reread the 2nd and 3rd books when rereading in the past — and out of those, most often the 3rd bc i love alan — and by revisiting this one i remember why i don't reread this one as often LOL. it's not bad, but i was just wincing throughout the whole thing knowing how much changes and knowing how much of how nick currently understands things is just. so incorrect lol. it's definitely set up for the following books, but i will say it's really important set up! so funny to me in retrospect how small of a role jamie plays in this book lol. i found myself actually so sick at the reveals at the climax / final confrontation — way more sick than i had been as a kid lol i find it so funny that now that i'm older + have more of a moral compass (plus more of an understanding of why such things as moral compasses exist), i'm way more horrified by what [redacted] did. that being said, some things never change; i adored stories about sibling relationships back then, and i still do now, so alan + nick and jamie + mae's relationships were so powerful to me :') already put the second book on hold lol so i guess i'm going through the whole series again (anything to get to the third book again haha)! also ngl i was so thrown off by the audiobook narrator's voice for nick LOL so rough and deep... i thought it was so funny and silly for a 16yo 😆

The demon Lexicon: Review I liked this book. I think when I read this it was not the best time because I really did not want to get into a new world and that may have effected my enjoyment of the book. 
I loved the concept of the book but the first book was really a laying the foundation of the series and I am much more interested in the upcoming books in the series whenever I get around to them.  I felt like this book needed to happen to get the story where it needed to go. 
I really loved the character of Alan alot. I think his character was so interesting and loved seeing the progress of his character throughout this series. I did not see the end of the boom coming so it really surprised me what his role was in the nick drama. 
 
I liked the brothers relationship in this book and loved the interaction between the two pairs of siblings and their interactions because the was the cool part of the book.
 
I loved how the world was built and created and it was made so clear and I want to know more in future books.
