Anthony Bozza

A no-holds-barred memoir by the Guns N' Roses guitarist documents his childhood as a biracial son of divorced artist parents; his relationships with such figures as David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, and Seymour Cassel; and his observations about the 1980s music scene.

how can someone put up with up Axl for that much time? Geez.. Slash opens up so deeply about his addictions, gives incredibly thorough details on the tours, the song writing, the pre-during-post GN’R, it’s a delight to read those 600+ pages!

Denis Crepaldi

From one of the greatest rock guitarists of our era comes a memoir that redefines sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. For the first time ever, Slash tells the tale that has yet to be told from the inside: how the legendary band Guns N' Roses came together, how they wrote the music that defined an era, how they survived insane, never-ending tours, how they survived themselves, and, ultimately, how it all fell apart. Slash is a window into the world of the notoriously private guitarist and a front seat on the roller-coaster ride that was one of history's greatest rock 'n' roll machines, always on the edge of self-destruction, even at the pinnacle of its success. Slash is everything Slash is: funny, honest, ingenious, inspiring, jaw-dropping . . . and, in a word, excessive.

Like any other memoir, Slash's tells the story of his life from childhood till 2007 when this book was published. This man has lived a wild life, what else would you expect from the guitarist of Guns N' Roses (my favorite band)?
This book was very descriptive and could paint a picture in my head. I enjoyed that there were pictures throughout the chapters instead of just having them in the middle. My one complaint is the set up, some chapters were 50+ pages long, and it seemed to be very tedious. Four out of five stars for me!
