A Lady's Guide to Scandal

I could not put this book down (metaphorically because I was listening to an audiobook)! I love Sophie Irwin’s books but this has to be one of my favorite historical romance books that I have read in a while. Obviously the drama and the love stories captured me. I would be sitting in my car, not wanting to go into to work because I JUST WANTED MORE! But besides that, I loved the way that the main character, Eliza’s, character development was written. She started out so timid and afraid of herself, but by the end, she takes the reins (literally) of her own story. I need someone I know to read this ASAP so I can talk about it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I sailed through it. It's very Bridgerton-y. The characters were charming, the dialogue was witty and humor abounds. I need more!

I think Sophie Turner is one of the best Regency-era Historical fictions writers in contemporary fiction- no one is doing it like she is! Her writing reads like poetry, simultaneously and seamlessly flowing in elegant phrases that will make you chuckle one sentence and mourn in the next. Her stories are wonderfully plot driven and don't rely on tropes to get her point across. This book had me from the beginning to the end! Anyone who enjoys regency historical fiction will love this one! 

I liked this one even more than the first one. The intrigue was just more dramatic and involved and I loved seeing Eliza gain her independence and confidence (even though it was tiring to hear about how petite and mousy she was like, every couple of chapters). More than romance, I was found myself just rooting for her and her happiness.
