DNF’d at page like, 60 something. Guys, this was my FAVORITE BOOK OF THE SERIES the first time around. I can’t believe how awful I found the beginning of this book. Edward was pissing me off SO MUCH that I couldn’t even pay attention anymore. He was controlling and manipulative and I found myself HATING him so I just stopped. I thought I cared and wanted to know what happened next but I guess I don’t. I can’t continue on with this series and you know what? That’s ok. It will always be a part of my reading history but I don’t have to love it forever. The first book will always hold a special place in my heart, as will the movies. But this book? Nope. I’m done.

for reasons I don't want to vocalize, I really hate Bella. I rated this book 5 stars because I watched her suffer through a decision. this is really unlike me, being a sadistic reader to the "poor antagonist" who's finding it hard to decide about the awkward situation she's in. I don't know. she just pisses me off so much.

I mean...

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. Eclipse highlights every thing that I loathe about Bella and her lack of character. In Eclipse, we get to watch Bella not only string Jacob along but also flaunt it in front of Edward’s face, which she knows she can get away with because technically, she wouldn’t have two thoughts about Jacob Black if Edward had never left her. And that is something she is hell bent to keep fresh on Edward’s mind… the consequences of her not getting her way, or of him ever leaving her again. This book is the low point of the series. It pretty much proves all of the criticism of sexism, racism, romanticizing abuse, and just shitty writing 100% right. It's just really bad, and not even fun-bad, like the first one. Just a miserable time overall for older readers who return to this series. This book series remains better for younger readers who want to dip their toes into paranormal romance.

Woah! Didn't think I would come back so quickly this time did ya? Well, I have finished Eclipse and I have to say, I am perplexed. While part of me wants to focus on all of the gushy lovey-doviness of the idea that two really attractive mythical creatures are head-over-heels and fighting over me, I also can't seem to get past how immature Jacob is over Bella and Edward's relationship, or how Edward is sometimes almost too selfless with everything.

Throughout this book, Bella is still trying to have both cake and pie and eat it too and it's getting tiring at this point lol. I am ready for her to be a vampire already. I have only been waiting 1,737 pages for it!

ALSO. This book again has the main conflict last like two seconds. Like I understand that its huge that the coven and pack are working together and are too mighty to stop but also like drag it out a little at least. The book builds 500+ pages up for a 20 page fight scene my golly.

Okay onto book 4, see ya.

I read the whole twilight series the past week and my thoughts before reading the books were that I wanted to know why there was a whole fandom about this one series. If I'm speaking truly about all of the series it was okay and I mean that in a reasonable way. The third book was more intriguing than the second book. The third book was a step right direction for the series to go in. Eclipse was better than New Moon but I still think it was three stars in my opinion. I still think that people should read the whole series but it's a little cheesy for my taste. The only reason I'm saying that is because I usually read sci-fi and fantasy books with romance in them. The twilight series makes romance the main genre. I do like the writing style and Edward & Bella.

And the award for the most boring and uninteresting book I've read this year goes to Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer! Whew, I'm really glad I've finally finished it. I felt like the whole time I was reading it I was just wasting my time. But, for the sake of my goodreads challenge, I read it and finished it. (I mostly skimmed the pages when I reached half of it, it was THAT boring.) This is the worst book in the series. The first and second books were tolerable, whilst this one was just infuriating! It wasn't riveting nor was it captivating. There was no thrilling moment. No nail-biting, gripping, heart-palpitating scenes. It was so dull!!! We all know Bella has personality issues, but she was just so frustrating in this book. I just wanted to shake her so hard and yell at her. She is needy, selfish, and is batshit crazy for Edward (to the point where she's willing to throw everything that she has away just to be with him). It's not like she has a horrible life. Her mother and father love her. She has friends. And, yeah, her life's pretty ordinary but at least it doesn't suck. I don't understand why people would find this romantic. It was beyond idiotic. Edward was too controlling. Again, I don't understand why people would fall in love with his character. Combine that with Bella's neediness, well, you've got yourself one frustrating ship. The plot was there but it was delivered in such a ponderous way. If you think there's going to be a thrilling, action-packed scene, please stop. Because that won't happen in this book. I'm so frustrated. 629 pages of needy Bella and controlling Edward fawning over each other with no moment, scene, whatsoever that was actually worth the read. I'm sorry to all the Twilight fans, I just really think this is horrible.

Almost four stars. Bella is too much into Edward and Jacob is such a manipulative "boyfriend", I can't.  The only thing I like is the end with the battle, the practicing before, etc. Except that, the book is full of "who to choose" (which would be pretty easy for Bella if she didn't lie to herself), "who gives the most 'male alpha' vibe for Bella" and "who can better protect the weak human".  However, I have to give a point to Edward for having a nice development from "I gotta protect Bella from anything and I'll do anything to do so" to "I understand Bella is a human being with feelings and free will so I don't own her" while Jacob is just a whining b*tch who can't stop hurting Bella with his talk "Well if you don't want me (AKA love me), I think I'll just kill myself" hmm wtf Jacob?"

Reading this series the first time was the ultimate caving act as far as peer pressure went. Sadly, though, my first read was characterised by an incredibly snobbish attitude. @ Pas self: Get over it . Liking romance and "girly" stuff is allowed. Cool , even . What's changed now, you ask? Well... Adolescence in full vampire craze happened. And early 20s, yes. No, I don't do phases. If I like something, I like it. Which is what I feel towards vampire-centered fiction, just to be extremely clear. Except, I've finally put a finger on why Twilight doesn't evoke homey, warm feelings in me: such an easy read as it is, it lacks... bite. (Can't resist a pun) My fave tv show as a teen was TVD (Which still causes the aforementioned warm fuzzies. And quote-alongs. And rewatches. You got the gist) and I adored Buffy. Why? Because the vamps controlled themselves and still behaved like vamps and the romance was way spicier (If you read this last sentence and didn't think of Damon or Spike, I've officially failed at references).

Oy vey, my heart hurts for Jacob. Damn it and he isn't my favorite character, I love Edward, but maybe the few years that have passed since I last read this book changed my perspective a bit. I still think Bella is a bumbling swoony idiot sometimes (the girl needs to grow some backbone), but I still really like this book. Mostly I think it was to do with the fact that this book is basically story-time with the Twilight cast. Jasper, Rosalie, the Quiletes - we get to hear so much more about how they came to be. Now it's movie time and then Breaking Dawn!
