The perfect thriller to curl up with this winter

Now I don't really get engaged when I read - yes, yes, I'm working it or whatever - but this book truly engrossed. Apart from the trash cliffhanger ending that left me stranded and without desire to think up theories, and the sometimes confusing cross overs between Kate and Jessica it was super good. The twists were crazy AF and I was surprised with how many shockers Cohen managed to include without making the book too drawn out. I've heard that this book is basically a cross-breed of Gone Girl (?) and some Stephen King book, but that didn't bother me too much as I have not read either (though I'm planning to).

A few good twists in this book and a good Christmas theme which I always love. For me this was a good book with interesting plot points, but I found it very unbelievable and convenient at times which made it difficult to follow the characters and be invested in their plights.

I almost loved this book.But I didn't.
Why?I don't quite know.Let me explain.

I started reading this book because I was absolutely thrilled with the Goodreads description.It seemed new and fascinating.I also found it on two amazing list with Unreliable narrators and Major Plot Twists- two of my absoute favourite things in books.So you may say I started this book with huge expectations.

And for most of the book - it actually surprised me of how good it was.I was hooked.Terrified,but surely thrilled as well. I couldn't get enough of it.But slowly,it worn off on me.It started to get me a bit angry because I realised,I couldn't really stand any of these characters . While some were complete maniacs,others were just the wrong people in the wrong place.I felt sorry for Jessica.I was entertained with Natalie.I was fascinated by Kim's dedication to her job. But this doesn't make them truly likeable.So I was only reading to see what happens next,but since no character grew on me (while some may have made me truly frustrated ) , I didn't root for them.I couldn't.

And regarding the ending-I remember telling my sister when I had like 70 pages left how I'd like this book to end.And funnily,it kind of ended exactly the way I wanted.But I still felt dissapointed.

I got an unreliable heroine . I got so many plot twists my head was spinning . And yet each one of it left me dissapointed.I had so many high hopes for this book.It seemed surreal,eerie...but it wasn't.It was so real it hurt my mind.

So this was a book good.Partially.
And I was satisfied with it.Partially.
But all in all,a really good read.
