My husband and I had a playful debate in the shower about Captain Underpants. I confessed I never read it as a kid because I assumed it was aimed at boys. He laughed and said that was nonsense—it’s for everyone. So, out of curiosity (and maybe a bit of stubbornness), I gave it a shot. It was okay—fun in its own chaotic way—but definitely not my thing.

OH MAN this brings back memories of middle school days when people only ate in the school cafeteria when it was Chicken Tender Day and everybody had to read so many books to earn so many points to prove to the state school board that you were not stupid. And of course the most popular books were Harry Potter, short books with more points, Harry Potter, Hank the Cowdog, Captain Underpants, oh and Harry Potter. Enter Captain Underpants, the ultimate guide to reading completely useless yet entertaining crap that earns you the right to pass English in the sixth grade. I feel like going back and reading these now.
