The Room Where It Happened A White House Memoir
Reviews

Man, there are too many details and it is hard to read and follow. Stopped after around 120 pages.

It got to the point where I would read pretty much any book, and during a particular dark,4-year period of time, I would read anything written about an infamous politician. This one was appealing because it was somebody ON HIS STAFF, so there should be some interesting information. While it was full of information, I found none of it to be particularly interesting. The entire world is well aware said politician is a giant idiot-balloon, and Bolton does a really good job of confirming what we already knew. There was no new or earth shattering revelations in here though, so that was disappointing. Bolton's writing style is exceptionally dry and particularly bland. He presents an insane amount of information in the book but it feels disconnected. Maybe it would have been better had he organized it chronologically, I don't know. There was just no flow.

Good to read to get some kind of picture of what Trump might be like, though obviously Bolton is going to make himself sound better and have his own biases. Read it with a grain of salt, but aside from some lines where he's obviously painting Trump in a bad light, it isn't anything we haven't heard before.
