I saw The Secrets We Keep on the new releases list and was immediately interested. The plot is fairly straightforward: two twins are get in a car accident, one dies and the other takes over the dead twin's identity. That isn't a spoiler; that info is in the book description. But I won't go into further detail and give things away.

The first chapter was filled with the (apparently) mandatory teen angst. Lots of "My sister's life is so easy and perfect and no one appreciates me." I was starting to get worried that the whole book would be that way, but it did get a lot better. 

This book wasn't as much of a mystery/thriller as I was hoping. What the book did well though was express the pain and turmoil caused by the loss of a sibling. So although Ella's narration was at times chaotic and scattered, it fit with the emotional trauma she was experiencing. Some of the characters' reactions were a bit hard to believe at the end. But even though I felt like my emotions were getting played like harp strings, I was still invested in the outcome and plowed through this book in a day and half.
