Este libro me dejó con esa sensación bien extraña de incomodidad pero al mismo tiempo de fascinación. Es de esos libros que te meten tan profundo en la mente del personaje que terminas sintiendo su paranoia, su obsesión, su soledad. La atmósfera es súper pesada, oscura, y aunque es corto, te deja dándole vueltas por un buen rato. No es una lectura fácil ni linda, pero definitivamente se te queda pegada.

Increible retrato del amor visto por la obsesion de no estar solo y el egoismo de tener a alguien. Nunca pense que una historia de amor podria albergar tanta oscuridad en los sentimientos de un hombre que se siente feliz de por fin ser comprendido.

Quede con las ganas de querer hacer esto una adaptacion en el presente, pienso que quedaria increible con escenas en blanco y negro y a color. Narracion y poco dialogo.

More like a 2.75. Aunque me gusto mucho el estilo de Sabato sentí que la manera en la construyo a los personajes no fue como me lo esperaba. El final se sintió muy plano (le faltó algo) pero quizás ese es el sentimiento no placentero que Juan Pablo evoca en el lector...

Castel is a cruel, misogynistic, and sociopathic character. Throughout the novel, it becomes clear that Castel is emotionally and physically abusive towards women, and the story is a stark portrayal of this abusive behavior ugh

Overall, I would give "The Tunnel" a rating of 3.5 stars. While the writing is excellent. the story was difficult to read due to the disturbing nature of the protagonist's behavior.

Amazing. I've had many opportunities to read this in the past, but have always put it off, I wish I hadn't. And even though I just read it, I can't wait to pick it up again and reread to see what I missed the first time. 

Juan Pablo Castel, is a character unlike any others, his train of thought takes you to the obvious which people commonly skip & ignore making him smarter than the average person.

Overall, I can say more than to tell you to read it now. A psychological masterpiece that will make you reevaluate life and human capacity.

El túnel fue aquel libro que me atrapó en el salón del octavo grado. Jamás olvidaré esa primera sensación de poder volar entre líneas. Gracias profe.

No es el peor libro (de lectura asignada para clases) que he leído, ese puesto lo tiene "El sí de las niñas", pero que horror. Termine hace casi que una hora y sigo procesando lo que leí. 

Tengo que admitir que en realidad está muy bien escrito, cuando empecé pensé que iba a saltarme muchos párrafos y adoptar el "skim reading" pero la verdad es que lo leí a consciencia y con la atención adecuada. 

Sin embargo, el personaje principal es un desastre completo; casi que un sociópata, la manera en la que trata a las personas a su alrededor (sobretodo a las mujeres) y las obsesiones en las que entra através de la historia pensando que María le pertenecía es chocante. 
Es físicamente y verbalmente abusivo en diferentes momentos (hacia varios personajes); al punto que me sorprende que aún siendo 1940s no lo metieran a prisión o consiguieran una orden de alejamiento hacia él.

So happy to have picked this one and was brave enough to read it in Spanish. (Part of me was hesitant since I have never had the guts to open a Spanish book, another part encouraged me go for it and get really out of my comfort zone, I mean I was reading and with hands clenched and tension everywhere in my body keeping up with the words - It was intense) :

I don't remember having read something Hispanic before, so this statement is just a guess : these writers are fine-tuned in their bodies and emotions, the words this author used to describe every second and relate it to his state, but soul, body and feelings were so special... I have imagined the story to go I think another way but it ended up surprising me.

It was exactly like being in the mind of a assassin. Every opinion was just something different. At the end a really well written and executed book. A south American  classic.

Una lectura profundamente incómoda. Aquí, pintor Juan Pablo Castel relata la historia de su relación con la mujer que mató, María Iribarne. Él es completamente demente, y tenía que preguntarme porqué María no se quedaba muy, muy lejos de él - porque le gustaba su pintura, ¿en serio? Pero supongo que no habría ninguna novela si ella hubiera tenido algún instinto de conservación.

Todavía, me gustaba el libro. Es una novela corta, y el lenguaje resultó bastante fácil para mí. Estoy feliz no tener que pasar más tiempo en el mente de este narrador trastornado, pero no me arrepiento de haber hacerlo.

Este libro se me escurrió de las manos en poco menos de dos horas. Es un libro intenso, lleno de desesperación, inseguridad, dolor y sentimientos que conducen a un proceder errático e irreflexivo, pero no sin un origen. Todo el camino, sabía que no conduciría a otra cosa que a un decisión basada en la amargura y en la necesidad de pertenencia. El protagonista ansiaba que María le perteneciera solo a él, completamente y para siempre, pero el no poder tener lo que quería lo internó (o más bien le hizo darse cuenta de que ya estaba internado) en un túnel oscuro lleno de miedos y soledad.
Me gustó, mas a veces tanta oscuridad parece intentar posarse como una nube sobre nosotros, y siempre he preferido la intensidad positiva y menos agresiva, menos violenta.

Aún así, lo disfruté. No fue ligera, pero sí muy rápida. Sabato nos mostró un final antes de llevarnos por el camino que nos dirigía a él, y de cierta forma me recordó a García Márquez.

Un personaje destructivo que actúa con razones no justificadas, una mujer que me creó muchas dudas y una relación casi tóxica cuyo destino parecía dilucidarse desde el primer encuentro.

Ahora a elegir otra obra de este autor. Se aceptan recomendaciones.
