I had read The Yellow Wallpaper already, but I was curious to see other works from Gilman. She's AMAZING. Not only is every story full of feminist punch, they're also very funny. Her sense of humor is endlessly charming. My favorite in the collection was "When I Was a Witch," which I laughed almost all the way through and then was surprisingly touched by its conclusion.

Highly recommend! The Yellow Wallpaper is a short story about how mental health, especially depression and possible post partum, was dealt with at the turn of the century and how “little ladies” were dealt with off handed and thought hysterics. How the treatment itself led to full blown insanity. The other stories are about strong women during that time period and how that dealt with everyday life.

My favorite part is the ending! 😁

This short story made a great impression in me. The author gives us this strong story of a woman confined in a room by her husband. This is the only scenario and yet so rich and powerful full of angst and madness. A must read definitely. An example of great writing.

The Yellow Wallpaper is very clearly the strongest story in this collection, but it was interesting to read some more from Perkins Gilman to get a better sense of her writing style
