One of the activities I have been doing to keep me busy is reading. A. Lot. I turn to reading when things seem pretty bleak and I need an escape. I get to go visit different areas of the world and different facets of the author’s imaginations. This time, I got to go back to Hartwell, Delaware in Samantha Young’s latest installment of the Hart’s Boardwalk series, Things We Never Said.

We’ve met Dahlia in previous Hart’s Boardwalk books, but this time, we get to really know her. We get to know her past and what brought her to Hartwell, and like so many other’s, her story is a sad one.

Through Dahlia’s story, we meet some new faces, one, in particular, is Michael, someone who Dahlia should have been with but ended up with his best friend instead.

This book is full of all the things that one would expect from a Samantha Young book, drama, laughs, HOT sex scenes, and love. We are again surrounded by the loving people of Hartwell and it feels like having drinks with old friends.

I don’t want to give too much away in the review because honestly, you should just go read it for yourself (and all of Samantha’s books). But, you wont be disappointed with Dahlia and Michael’s story.

I started this book and I couldn’t put it down. I had read the first 2 books a while ago and now that Emery’s book is coming I had to read this and remember the previous couples.

I love Samantha’s books and this wasn’t the exception. I loved reading about the friendship between Bailey, Jess, Dahlia and Emery and how everyone felt like a big family. Reading the previous books I wanted to know about Dahlia’s story and I’m happy at how everything worked out.

Now I can’t wait to read about Emery and Jack’s book, I’ve wanted to understand Emery for a while now and I’m excited to see how everything will go between her and Jack.

I know I can always count on Samantha Young to give me fantastically angsty and wonderful romance. That's exactly what I got with Things We Never Said, a beautiful second chance romance set in the Hart's Boardwalk series. Boy did this book have me all u in my feelings while I read. And even after I finished, if we want to get technical. 

Dahlia and Michael's second chance was a long time coming. Things between them were super complicated. Yet, I didn't doubt for a minute that they belonged together. But, this wasn't an easy romance where the characters just fall back into each other. They had to work for it. There was a ton of angst and emotions. It hurt so, so good. It was easy to get invested in their story.

I really liked Dahlia. I admired her strength and independence. She was relatable and likable. I was afraid I'd have a little bit of a tough time with Michael, even though I tend to love grumpy heroes. But, I didn't. He was a really good guy who had me swooning all over myself while I read. These two had such fantastic chemistry and the slow burn they had going on desperately made me hope they could get the timing right this time around. 

I hope Things We Never Said isn't the last book in the Hart's Boardwalk series. I love the characters and the small town setting in this series and, since I'm a greedy reader, I'm not quite ready to give either of them up.
