Finishing a batch of YA series that I've started years ago in a space of a week is both a relief & a frustrating experience. It's a relief that I could completely move on from the things that's hanging in the back of my head for a long time but it's also frustrating that I had to spend an hour or two crunching through predictable material.

Romina Russell's Thirteen Rising is definitely one of my mixed experiences where I attempted to read the series in full. While I loved the astrology & house concepts (I think the worldbuilding definitely worths a shoutout for someone who enjoys astrology), the way the characterisation & plots panned out are pretty typical YA. So in terms of the actual things that happened, I found the book pretty forgettable.

overall, i enjoyed this finale to the series. i’m not overly satisfied with the ending but i definitely think it could open up another series with a whole new cast of characters. still have ups and downs about this book and the series as a whole, but i really enjoyed this series and i can’t wait to see what else Romina Russell publishes!
