I would have stopped reading it if I hadn't hit my Audible exchange limit.

*Yawn* Was that supposed to be scary? Because it wasn't in the slightest. The majority of the book was the protagonist talking about his stupid book, the book where no one else can be in the house and he can't leave, and suddenly, lo and behold, a friend pops up and ruins the whole thing. It was majorly focused on whatever drama happened between the protagonist and his friend. It was that long, drawn out "oh, we can't talk about the past because of reasons" but never telling us the past, then suddenly we find out and I just kind of laughed. I guess it is an issue, but it just doesn't fit the scope of the "elephant in the room" that I had hoped for.

And it does get twisty, but I don't want to spoil it. The twist is the only reason it gets 2 stars, but even that felt a little weak. Give me meat, give me fright! It is no fun to follow around a character that constantly writes off the spooky factors. I mean either give me a guy totally driven crazy by a house, or give me hints to the twist that make me wonder what happened. And actually want to care about what happened.

The moment with the hand gave it away for me, but still an enjoyable spooky story.
This may actually be a benefit, all the hints that lead the reader. I liked it.
