Reading this series after reading all of the Harriet Hamsterbone books, I see this book as the green hued prototype. Dragonbreath looks a lot like Harriet. Wendell looks and acts a lot like Wilbur. The oddball humor is there too but not as refined as it is in the Harriet Hamsterbone series. Not all of the jokes stick here.
