** spoiler alert ** funny but junk food reading imo. i listened to this whole thing on audiobook which was read by stassi, that's what made the whole thing funny. she put her personality into reading it so it came alive.

Honestly I read this because I watched Vanderpump Rules. Do I think it was worth my money, no. But it did make me laugh and it was an easy light read amongst heavier novels. There are some really good themes in this book but they aren’t explored with any depth. The book could have been deeper and make a genuine statement about how women’s interests are often spoken about negatively and how social media impacts our view of ourselves. Instead it just casually mentions these things and then moves right along to superficial ideas about living your best basic life, keeping your phone charged and what alcohol to drink when. Being a women who likes pop music, makeup, iced lattes and reality tv is considered ‘basic’ and like you don’t have personality. We talk about things we enjoy as if they are ‘guilty pleasures’ like we should be ashamed. As a woman you can’t really win though because if you like watching sports you can’t really be a fan without people questioning you’re interest as if you’re pretending. If you like indie music and thrift shopping people think you’re trying too hard to be ‘quirky’. Women should be allowed to like whatever they like and not be judged. And we can be multifaceted, you can watch reality TV and also like classic literature, you could love makeup and also be a hardcore football fan, or you could be the definition of what everyone refers to as ‘basic’ and it should be totally fine. One of my favourite things is listening to someone talk about something they love ESPECIALLY when I don’t understand it or like it myself. It’s like here’s this thing that makes no sense to me and it brings you pure happiness, I love that. FYI my star rating scale (because I never now what the stars mean to other people) ⭐️ DNF or finished but I had to push through and hated it ⭐️⭐️ It was ok or I didn’t like it but it had redeeming qualities, wouldn’t recommend and will probably donate mine to local library ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Liked it, would recommend, but I don’t really remember it months later. Staying on my shelf until I need more room ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely recommend, it’s something that had impact or I couldn’t put down. I could tell you about it months/years after I finished reading it but I don’t think I’ll read it again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ LOVE, will absolutely read again

I've decided to read this since I've been looking for something funny and entertaining to read. And for the most part, that's exactly what I've gotten. However, I can say with complete certainty, I am not a Basic Bitch. I'm not sure who this book was for, but the advice given was useless at times, and could be very harmful if read by a young girl, who is only beginning to learn what she wants in life and how she wants to get there. Some of the parts made me cringe, and I'm not even talking about the constant mention of the former Duchess of Sussex. Not a fan. One part which I found hilarious, but still don't know if it was meant to be a joke or was the author serious. When talking about Game of Thrones (a.fictional.world) Stassi says 'it was horrible times for women's rights'. Oh yeah, but at least we had dragons roaming the Earth in those days.
