You might want to actually read this!...My story is probably pretty unique, even for the internet! I have been writing since my early teens, and it has quite literally been a lifesaver at times, helping me maintain my sanity and remain above much BS, despite my environment. Oh, yeah, and said environment is the correctional facility where I am serving out a 9 1/2 yr sentence...literally as I write. "Preposterous!" You might say, "How then do you make words manifest here upon this glorious site?" To which I would say, "I ceased being a childish d**k-head several years ago, and I am now involved in a college program which enables me to retain a laptop with limited internet capabilities in my cell!" Writing is my mana, the sole comfort and self-affirming activity in my life; and the novel I published last year is one of the few tangible, entirely positive accomplishments I can point to with pride and say "I did this!"- So to find a site with thousands of authors, all eager to engage and curious to discover new things, with the same love and bond I share with writing/the written word in general; this was a beautiful thing. I have been a member of goodreads for some time, but I have been trepidatious about posting much because my ability to engage is limited, I (technically) "can't" respond directly to posts/comments etc. (My goodreads page breaks it down a little better!) But I had to step forward and say, "I'm here too!" Else why even set up my author page? So anyone who is interested in a bit more about me, or wants to read my as of now one published novel, "Of Wrath & Ruin", feel free to check me out on goodreads! I can answer questions etc. via formatting my reply as an objective post, not as a specific response to one individual. I am still incarcerated, and my access to this site/ability to engage on it is a privilege unique to myself and something I am keen on not jeopardizing, so I am extra cautious...well, in my blatant manipulation of the limits imposed upon me, that is! With that being said, I live to write, and my available book is firmly in the epic fantasy category. It isn't too long, (my physical manuscript is only about 350 pages, size 12 double-spaced). I spat it out during my first semester in college back in 2019, and anyone who is a fan of that genre should enjoy my book! My ability to type, and not need to longhand everything, has over the past few years allowed me to progress as a writer beyond what I would ever have thought possible, but I still stand by "Of Wrath & Ruin" as a good story. The next book in the trilogy is actively in the works, and I also have written a children's book, entitled "Owls are Odd, but Ducks Dig It!" This is the story of Powell the Owl, and Doug the Duck. Doug is the only duck on the farm, and an only duck is a lonely duck, so Powell teaches him to accept himself for who he is, and not let his differences control his life! (I thought it was a good message for kids, I'm finishing the illustrations, and then I will post the whole thing free on my goodreads author page!) As for my actual novel I would say, that though my style/delivery has changed in many ways over these last four years, I feel if one perseveres to the end, then they will find I told a damn good story. If one also takes into consideration the various limiting factors imposed upon me as a result of my environment, they will understand that though I wrote it in 2019, it was several years before I was able to actually publish it. (I did so as an E-Book, via KDP!) Also, just to air it out, I don't want this to devolve into conversation only about my incarceration, I am locked up due to my own stupidity, and I take full responsibility for my crimes; allow all of that be said upfront. Nor do I glorify them, robbery is never the means to any end but spending an extended period of time as my neighbor, here or in a different prison! So please, I will answer any legitimate question, but I can't let my page devolve into aggrandizement of any aspect of the lifestyle that led me here, nor am I too keen on telling "war stories"! (It needed saying.) But please, check me out, give my book a chance, hold your horses for a kids book coming A.S.A.P. and also anticipate a novella, entitled "To Kill a King" which I am currently polishing up to be available on Amazon soon as well. Thank you, for those who took the time to actually read this! :) Hit me up, I am here and eager to be a part of this community! goodreads.com/theshanethlikesbooks
