Where has Alta Hensley been hiding?! This author really knows how to pack up the steam! 🥵 Lyriope has made her bed with the Russians and now they've put a hit on her. With nowhere else to go, she goes to Wonderland, hoping to receive help from Nick Hudson. He sends her on her way the promise of paying her debt, but she'll owe him her virginity.

Nick is a feral, possessive, anti-hero alphahole that got me so intrigued to discover more of who he truly is. Lyriope has had to live such a horrible life, depending only on herself. To say she should have been running the opposite direction of Nick is the understatement of the century. But our girl is just as intrigued as I am by this mystery man.

When I tell you this is hot and taboo-ish and dark, heed the warnings, because wow!!! And if you like all of this, dive in head-first. You won't regret it.

This was a really fun and steamy read! The similarities between Alice in Wonderland are on point and I thoroughly enjoyed that aspect of this book! I quite literally felt like I was reading an adult underground version of the story. 

Nick’s character is possessive and demanding. The way Alta writes his inner monologue is very Hatter-esque, a bit wonky yet calculated, is a major reason behind my liking this book. His obsession with opulence leads to a deeper rooted cause that resonates with his demeanor.

Lyriope is a heroine that was hard for me to connect with but she certainly fell down a rabbit hole that she has no business being in. The same naivety and innocence ultimately becomes her saving grace though. Her fascination with Nick is easily relatable and her curiosity could’ve very easily been her down fall which is incredibly close to Alice.

I was quickly engrossed in their story, I mean it is straight fire! Their connection and tension are combustible. I want Nick to keep Lyriope forever. That being said unfortunately the cliff hanger in this first book was completely predictable leaving me feeling like the story fell a bit flat. I’m looking forward to how Alta continues the tale.

Nick Hudson-dark, ruthless, billionaire, is a man to fear and his name is known for many things. Including running a dark club called Wonderland.
Lyirope-smart, in debt to the Russian mafia, and is the bastard child of a Morelli.

Lyirope needs protection from the Russian mafia all due to her parents and their gambling debt, in comes Nick Hudson. He has paid off the debt and now he wants his repayment and he wants in in one form..her body. 
I do believe that this could be an interconnected book because of the mafia names here and Lyirope's father is Bryant Morelli (which if you have read K. Webster's Deception series you would know who he is). 
I cannot wait to read the second book in this series.
