completely ambivalent about this book. its cute in spots and has opportunities to be introspective but never really gets there fully. sounds harsh but i didnt think it was bad, just… usual. Like its a cute coming of age romance about two girls with deep deep mommy issues. If I could make one genuine complaint tho, it would be that the second act was rushed. Completely rushed. There are conflicts in the second half that should have taken more space in the book but only took one chapter to resolve. Like these conflicts have been plaguing the MC’s minds and lives. Issues that have been planted way before the events of the book started and have been cropping out all throughout the book, does it make sense for both conflicts to reach their climax and resolution in a single chapter each. Like for example, the Alex’s mom’s alcoholism reaches its climax with a DUI and gets admitted to a rehab in the same chapter. The book couldve used a couple of more chapters to resolve and deal with these issues in a more complete matter, however, i understand why they didn’t.

really had my hopes up for this book, it's not Bad but just moved too slow for my liking i think. it had just enough to keep me reading as i started to lose interest but other than relating to bits and pieces from both main characters i just never Felt anything more than twice. was really hoping to like it more than i did honestly :/

The story of alex and molly was much more than just a love story, they found themselves and how they want to be and how they want their future to look like, it was truly beautiful how two so different wolds could fit so perfectly and be not so different after all.

some reads are deeper than this, but if you want something light then pick this up! what i loved the most is that both the main characters would positively push you into taking risks, or gaining courage for a little switch up in your life/routine. gained a crush on alex and cora LMAO

She Gets the Girl, written by spouses Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick, is a cute young adult LGBTQIA romance book that follows Molly and Alex -- two girls who couldn't be more opposite of each other. Molly has been in love with a girl from her high school named Cora for years but has never spoken to her. Meanwhile, Alex has difficulties opening up to her girlfriend, Natalie, who doesn't trust Alex's wandering eye.

Alex and Molly are thrown together to help one another achieve their relationship goals. We learn all about this unlikely duo and start rooting for them throughout the novel.

With some She's All That vibes, this enemies to lovers romcom is a fun and quick read. I do wish it went more in-depth and fleshed out some of the supporting characters who feel a little bit like caricatures or two-dimensional. Overall, it's a great debut for Alyson Derrick and I'd recommend for a cute queer YA romcom!

This book was a refreshingly cute read. The characters had good arcs both together and individually, and I liked the way the story handled some heavier topics.

I laughed, I cried, I cheered! This book has been on my shelf since the summer and finally FINALLY I got to it! I've read Lippincott's "The Lucky List" and I loved it so I was super excited to read this one that she wrote with her wife! Super fun and there are some very real college experiences in here that made me go "oh I did that too" which was both fun and felt like I was being called out a little... But I loved it! Molly and Alex were such good characters and I love their many layers woven into just one book. I can't wait to read more books from both Lippincott and Derrick because they really know how to make me cry and then wrap it all up by the end with a little bow on it and I adore that!
