Victoria, a local waitress goes missing in a Texas town. Her coworker Annie knows she would never disappear when she has a daughter she dotes on so much. Annie asks her former police chief grandfather to help her track Victoria down. Tracing Victoria’s steps may be the only way to find out what happened to her but is Annie ok with ruffling feathers in the town she grew up in? Is she willing to put her own life at risk?

Pay Dirt Road is 296 pages long and took me two days to read.

I found myself surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It felt like each character was a real person and I could picture the whole thing playing out in front of me. I’m giving this book a 4.5 out of 5! I’ll definitely be tracking Samantha Jayne Allen’s writing going forward!
