I loved this book. It was captivating, had tension, and the perfect “inner circle” vibe. I thought the storyline was super unique and contained the perfect amount of spice. This book definitely set up the rest of the series in an exciting and nail biting way. My only criticism is that I found that the end seemed a little rushed. Would highly recommend if you like Throne of Glass :)

I went into The Bridge Kingdom expecting a romance filled with tension and secrets and a strong female character. However, it did not meet my expectations. I did not enjoy following Laura and Aren, I did not find them interesting. 
Laura felt like the other hundred “strong” female characters in romance novels, her voice didn’t feel distinct whatsoever. She was also “petite” which is my biggest pet peeve. Can’t a physically strong woman just be big? 
Aren was one of the silliest male characters I’ve read about. Considering Laura was the daughter of his enemy, shouldn’t he have been a bit more careful? He felt very naïve. 
I thought the plot was good, nonetheless, since the characters did not interest me, I didn’t really care what would happen to them.

I actually enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought! While it is technically a romantasy, I think it does a very good job at balancing the romance and fantasy elements. Sometimes there are romantasy books that have barely any fantasy elements that could hold up by themselves without the romance plotline, but this book does it well!

The world is pretty well crafted and I quite enjoy Lara's character. Although I did end up rating this 4 stars, I will say that I almost DNF'd in the middle because it does get quite slow. However, it definitely picks up again around the 75% mark and I was eating it up from there on out. Will definitely be reading the second book, as the ending sets it up very well for the next book.

Overall, very enjoyable but maybe give this one a miss if you're not a fan of slow-paced fantasy.

            Update: After two weeks of finishing this I can't stop thinking about it and for that reason I'm going to up this from four stars to five stars. 

The plot, the banter, the politics, the romance, the world, the characters, ugh, everything was so amazing and unique. This had me hooked from the start! 

I’ve spent the entirety of this book scared for Lara, honestly there where parts where I just wanted to cry (mainly after the 70% point) I knew everything was going to end in shit but I still had my hopes ya know? Hope is the last one to die. 

THAT ENDING? *chefs kiss* it just left me wanting more, it was amazingly done! 
  “You need me because I am the Queen of Ithicana, And it’s time my father was brought to his knees.”
 after that line I just jumped and did a little happy dance in my head, we are definitely going to see the full length of Lara’s abilities in the second book, and I’m so ready for it and for all the fight scenes we are probably going to get! 

I really did love this book and It definitely is a favorite of mine, the only reason why I don’t give it five stars is only because I had some trouble understanding the world building at first and because the descriptions of places and things were kinda hard for me to picture, but hey, that’s probably my fault not the book.

Definitely recommend this to everyone who loves enemies to lovers and politic/intrigues filled stories, this has it all and a lot more.

i feel like the author of this book had the potential to write a 4-5 star book but just didn’t. there were aspects of this book that were so fire and then other parts felt like i was reading a watt pad story. the book was hella good but the writing i just know could be so much better because she showed how good her writing is at some points. i just feel if the author went back and edited/rewrote this book it would be a 5 star book
