Um weiterschreiben zu können, verzichtet sie auf das sichere Gehalt. Zu Recht, denn ihre Steinzeit-Romane werden zu Knüllern mit Kultcharakter. Jean M. Auel ist fünffache Mutter und vielfache Grossmutter und lebt in Oregon.
