Michael Silk

Michael Stephen Silk, FBA, is an emeritus professor author and historian of classical and comparative literature at King's College, London of Polish-Jewish descent, born on June 11, 1941 in Birmingham to Polish immigrants. He attained his Classics PhD at Cambridge University King’s College which he attended in 1959, where he met Laurel Silk - his wife since 1962. He has illustrated his works of literature in relation to the theory and practice of tragedy and comedy, Greek poetry and drama, literary theory, and the classical tradition. He was elected a fellow of the British Academy in 1999. He is a brother to 6, father to 5, grandfather to 12 and great grandfather to 3.
