UNWTO Tourism Towards 2030 is a broad research project in continuation of UNWTOs work in the area of long-term forecasting initiated in the 1990s and aims at providing a global reference on tourism future development. Following the long-term forecast series of reports Tourism 2020 Vision, the Tourism Towards 2030 - Global Overview report updates international tourism projections through 2030. Central in the study are the projections for international tourism flows in the two decades 2010-2030, with as basis data series on international tourist arrivals as reported by destination countries for the period 1980-2010, taking into account subregion of destination, region of origin, mode of transport and purpose of visit.

Tourism Towards 2030

The Tourism Development Report (Policy and Trends) has been prepared pursuant to Resolution A/RES/206(VII) adopted by the General Assembly at its seventh session within the framework of the general programme of work for the period 1988-89 drafted by the Secretary-General. The objective of this report is to describe the policy adopted by the various countries with the aim of developing tourism, both international and domestic. The country reports included in this volume have been received at the Secretariat in response to questionnaires sent out early in 1988. Different types of questionnaires were mailed to developing and industrial market economies, an approach suggested by the relevance for each of these groups of a distinct array of problems

Observations on International Tourism Communications

This publication contains the key proceedings and technical report of the Second International Conference on Climate Change and Tourism, held in Davos, Switzerland, 1-3 October 2007. The Davos Declaration and the summary of the conference debates demonstrate a clear commitment of the tourism sector to address climate change issues, and provide concrete recommendations for actions. The extensive technical report included in this publication was commissioned to an international team of experts by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). It provides a synthesis of the state of knowledge about current and future likely impacts of climate change on tourism destinations around the world, possible implications for tourist demand, current levels and trends in GHG emissions from the tourism sector, and an overview of policy and management responses adopted by the key stakeholder groups (international organizations, public administrations, the tourism industry) with respect to adaptation to and mitigation of climate change. The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road is a key component of China's Belt and Road Initiative and, as such, can play a crucial role in the development of maritime infrastructure throughout Asia and the Pacific in the coming years. This report, developed with the kind support of Sunny International, looks into the overall impacts of the Maritime Silk Road on tourism and assesses the tourism potential of Maritime Silk Road thematic routes across Asia and beyond. The report shows that cruise tourism, targeted investments in decayed maritime infrastructure and the reutilization of ancient port cities can reinvigorate available heritage, support local communities and help diversify a country's tourism sector.
