This is your typical murder-mystery-young adult-romance where the polices are stupid. The only reason I read this is because apparently there's a Netflix adaptation of it. The character is bland, the killer's motive is nonsense, and the ending is meh. I still appreciate the author so three stars is the best I can give.

The perfect guilty pleasure :)

I was looking for a horror novel but nothing I had on my e-reader was appealing to me, and then I remembered I had this one. The slasher genre is my favorite horror movie genre, and I generally love Stephanie Perkin's whort stories, so I was really excited to pick it up.

I loved this book and tore through it! I read it in 2 sittings, it's super fast-paced, the characters are lively and have great personnalities, it's action-packed, it has scary bits and funny bits, the story is engrossing, the murders are gruesome. Everything you need in a slasher.

Exactly what I was looking for! If you want something fun, just like Scream was, then go for it! 

Bonus points for having a main character from Hawaii, loved it :)

I liked the premise and I thought the parts where the murders were described were quite terrifying (happy I read this while I was in my own house, surrounded by people), but the main character couldn't really interest me much. This read like a teenage slasher film, which turned out not being quite my thing. It was fun enough, but the twists didn't make sense to me and the scary/thriller parts didn't thrill me.

To be honest I was only reading the book eager to know what is this great secret in her past and why are the murders are connected to it! And I can say I am really disappointed! The plot and the story line wasn't really good! But I won't lie there was a bit of thriller events but not that much for a horror, thriller book!

Sometimes events go so quickly that you can't catch up and sometimes it goes so slowly that you get so bored and want to stop but you keep convincing yourself to finish this book!

Makani was so wretched, always exaggerating! I didn't like the way she thinks or handling things like she's miserable or helpless. 
I really liked Ollie but I hate the way the author represented him, she gave us so many false images of him and kept giving signals that wasn't necessary!

I'd give the book 2/5 stars! The book wasn't good and so exaggerating! So many things missing as well as many things unrelated mentioned! There was no enough thrilling in events the only thrilling was to get to know what Makani did in her past that made her escape!

Not a bad read, just that I felt there was a lot of blah blah blah in certain parts , then lacked descriptions in other areas and there was some unresolved issues! I have so many questions!

I really enjoyed Stephanie Perkins’s romance trilogy (when I normally despise romance) so I was very intrigued when I heard that Perkins was writing a horror novel. One thing I have to say is: if you are expecting horror, you will be disappointed. There’s Someone Inside Your House is part romance, part teen slasher story, and keeping this in mind might make you enjoy it a bit more. 

To be honest, I don’t typically expose myself to a lot of horror, but it takes a lot to scare me. This didn’t do it - the tension (which already wasn’t too high) was broken up a lot of the time by the romance scenes. However, some of the murders were pretty satisfyingly gory and precisely what I expect from a slasher story. I was expecting a lot more murders in the book then there were though, and I really wished that I felt like the main characters were actually in danger. 

I liked Makani and her friends, but I felt like the only fleshed-out character was Makani herself. I did find her backstory really fascinating, however. Ollie was cute, but again, he felt somewhat flat. Even as a romance this kind of disappointed me because I’m used to being really into Perkins’ romances, but Ollie and Makani didn’t have as much chemistry as I wished they would. 

Minor spoilers, (view spoiler)[but what I was really disappointed in was the big reveal of the killer; I felt like their motivations were incredibly shallow and far too direct, like the readers didn’t have room for speculation. (hide spoiler)] I did enjoy this as a fun and quick read, but Perkins’ brand of romance and horror don’t mesh well together.

it was good but it felt like we learned who the killer was super quick so it lost the tense feeling 
makani’s backstory was so lame, if ur gonna hype it up the entire book come up with soemthing good 
the ending was so abrupt and it was def missing an epilogue cuz who ends their books like that

Changed my rating to a 3 star. 

- Okay, I gave her some chances but me and Stephanie do not jive when it comes to her writing thrillers. 
The only, and I mean the only redeemable parts of this book were when people were getting killed. If you took those parts out, there would have been nothing. 
It's like the author starts writing, forgets its a mystery, then suddenly remembers in the last 30 pages and just comes up with random stuff. 
Do not even getting me started on the background with Makani. I honestly was so disappointed in the truth. The way the author built it up, i was expecting something insane, but it was literally the most mundane thing. 
There's not much else I can say other than it disappointed me and I wish I would have just watched the movie instead.

This was the least thrilling thriller I’ve ever read.

What... the.... fuck...? Es todo lo que puedo pensar. Ni siquiera sé por donde empezar con este libro. Es como una montaña rusa. Va muy lento al principio y cuando por fin empieza a ponerse interesante decae totalmente. Los personajes me parece planos y llegados a un punto ya me daba igual que les pasara. Las últimas 60 páginas se me han hecho eternas y solo quería que acabara de una vez... Le iba a poner un 3 pero con ese final me da que se queda en un 2. Me ha parecido demasiado apurado y sin sentido y las razones que da el asesino... en fin.

This was one of my Halloween reads for this year and it definitely did the job of giving me the spooks. I love the Scream movies and this book gave a lot of Scream vibes. A very intense and creepy read

honestly i can see why people don’t like this, it’s a cheesy, straight out of early 2000s slasher film in a book. if you’re looking for something in depth and super thought out, this isn’t it. 

but if you’re looking for a blast to classic slashers and aren’t looking for super plot heavy books, this is it.

bruv it was so good. the ending made me need a nervous poo and it only took me a week to read
