I now understand that this is not the first book in this “series”, but honestly there is not much need to read them order from what I could tell. Obviously it gives away who ends up with who, but with these books it is a bit obvious that the guy gets the girl.

So this was my first Abbi Glines novel to read and let me just say that it is definitely not Young Adult, so I am not sure why my local Half Price Books had it in that section. Let me also that I really enjoyed it. I read it in one day, which I think is quite impressive. It was engaging, steamy (if you will), and fun.

It was one of those cliche bad boy books that I can’t seem to get enough of, so I knew the basic plot, but there were some twists I wasn’t expecting. I felt it had a Beautiful Disaster feel to it (I have no idea which came first); with that being said it was as dark at the Beautiful books seem to be.

The two main characters, Preston and Amanda, were great when they were together. I liked Preston throughout the whole book, whether he was being described as a playboy or bad boy or what have you. He knew who he was and he embraced it 100% which I liked. Reading from his point of view kept me extremely entertained. Sometimes women authors don’t do well writing from the confines of a guy’s head, but I felt Glines succeeded. Amanda, on the other hand, I was not so fond of. She came off as kind of a slut and a bit too experienced yet innocent. I don’t know, she bothered me from the very first page.

When they brought in Preston’s family, well that was when I really fell for him. The way he cared for them and loved them was just the sweetest thing ever. It showed he was all tough, but that he could have other kinds of emotions as well. It also justified a bit of what he was doing.

Overall, this book kept me completely entertained from the first page. It lost one star, because I found a decent amount of sentences that made no sense and lots of grammatical errors. That bothers me. But it is a fun read and a good bad boy romance book.

This book was a "pick me up out of my slump" kind of read. Abbi Glines is an author that I can read whenever and it will get me back in the reading mood if I am in a reading slump or can't seem to finish anything. They are kind of a "guilty pleasure" read for me. They're quick reads, short books (under 300 pages), there is romance, flawed characters, drama, etc. Your typical new adult book; but, I enjoy them for what they are. They are my quick fix to slumps. Abbi Glines is one of my favorite new adult authors.

I genuinely enjoyed this book! I’ve not read an Abbi Glines book before, I think. It was a bit difficult coming in on this book, I didn’t realise it was book 4, as there was a lot of history, but it was still understandable and enjoyable.
I loved Preston, he got under my skin right away. Amanda was a strong female as well.
There’s a few niggly things here and there but it wasn’t anything major. 
I’m really interested in this series, I’ve got a couple of others, so I will continue.
Give it a go!

I had not expectations going into Preston and Amanda's story and was pleasantly surprised how much it affected me. There is one thing I loved about Abbi Glines novels in The Sea Breeze series not one is alike.

 Preston's character I totally adore and he broke my heart. What he does for his siblings is crazy but amazing. He has a dark secret he keeps hidden even from his best friends. He makes everyone believe he is a bad boy that all he wants is one night stands, but really that is a front for him to keep his secret hidden. Abbi Glines did amazing work on Preston's thoughts and actions when it came to a certain family member. Loved having his thoughts in his POV as they were right on with someone in his predicament with that one family member. They were at times harsh and if one was not in his shoes you would think he was a jerk. By this she made his character come to life. 

I love a heroine who goes after what she wants. Amanda wants Preston. It is refreshing as do not see that in a lot of novels. I loved that she never gave up on Preston even though he was hot and cold. Preston does want Amanda but knows he can not have anything with her because of his secret. But her being so persuasive it makes it harder for him to step back. Amanda thinks he needs taming but really he needs saving. I felt she was the perfect heroine for him to be saved by. I loved once she found out about one of his secrets she was so supported of him and helpful. 

Just for now was a page turner for me and Abbi Glines best work in the Sea Breeze series. I could not swipe my kindle fast enough to find out when and how Amanda does when she finds out his big secret. Bravo Abbi Glines, Bravo.

Once again Abbi Glines did not have any big twist in her novel that I love. But that did not make it any less amazing. I think if there was a twist it would be too much. For me Just For Now is perfect the way it is. For me this is going to be a hard one to top.

I am a fan of this series, but until this book I wasn't that much into this series. Rosemary beach was so much better. But then Preston and Amanda come into the play. And oh my God. It is amazing. My second or third favorite book by Abbi Glines among of the over 15 book I read of her. That says a lot

Hell no, Abbi Glines.

It's one thing to write a bad book. You're last few books had awful male dominated characters who objectified and spoke condescendingly to women. But this? This is unacceptable.

I couldn't make it past the prologue. I read this passage in open-mouthed horror, because Abbi Glines has crossed a line. If you haven't read the book, DON'T. Here's the offending paragraph that has me so angry:

"I’m getting your sexy ass back here so I can strip off your clothes and bury my dick into that tight little pussy. You can’t go do shit like that, Manda, and expect a guy to control himself. It don’t fucking work that way, baby girl.”

And yes, a character actually says those words. A CHARACTER ACTUALLY SAYS THOSE WORDS.

I know some people read adult fiction for the erotic scenes. Fine. This sex scene wasn't terrible, not going to lie. But when you romanticize rape and sexual assault for the sake of creating a "troubled" character? You've gone too far.

If you don't understand what about this paragraph boils my blood, allow me to explain. First of all, yes, as a matter of fact, a girl can do something that may turn you on, and still change her mind. If this girl wants to stop all the sudden, you asshole better let her. And actually, we can expect you to control yourself. You're not an animal. You could have a huge sex drive, you could be a stud, and you'd still have to "control yourself" if a girl or guy changes their mind or takes away their consent. No matter how the girl was acting in this scene - to clarify, she did want to have sex with him - that doesn't mean she no longer has a say. 

Condesending baby talk is not a new trope for Abbi, but in this context - that the girl has no say in whether or not they have sex, that the guy can't help it since he's so turned on - it's like he's having sex with a child. "Baby Girl" is not said lovingly or adoringly, but rather like something you'd say when trying to coax a child to go tot bed. Not to mention what he mentions before that, as if this girl is merely something for him to stick his business in rather than a human being who has a say in the matter. 

God, I really didn't think her writing could get any worse. You really screwed up, Abbi. You're doing a disservice to every girl out there who has ever been pressured to have sex, who has been raped or assaulted, who's been told it's her fault because "boys will be boys". Maybe for once you could have a male character who has the tragic backstory and still treats women with the respect they deserve. 

Can we please boycott  Abbi Glines already?
