"It was only supposed to be a summer job, not a summer fling. Just a quick way for seventeen-year-old Sadie to earn some money to support her very helpless--and very pregnant--single mother. But even with the help of her cute and friendly coworker, Marcus, Sadie learns firsthand that working as a domestic servant is tough, especially when the house is owned by none other than Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rock stars in the world."--Page 4 of cover.

Book #50 Read in 2014 Breathe by Abbi Glines (YA) This is the first book in a young adult "smut" series, for lack of a better term. It reminded me of a 50 Shades of Gray for teenagers....but a bit naughtier than what I remember reading as a teen. Sadie gets a summer job as a maid for a rich family; the owner turns out to be young rock star Jaz. The two connect instantly and begin a relationship while trying to maintain privacy. Of course they are found out and their cover is blown. This book was a quick read and the characters were interesting but about halfway through it could have wrapped up for me. But I stuck with it so I could see that happy ever after in the end. http://melissasbookpicks.blogspot.com

Romantic, intense, perfect. An amazing book, besides the fact that it's a little bit immature, a book made for teenagers and such. I'm not saying bad things about the book, just saying that it's a little bit childish, that I expected more. I love Jax Stone, wish he could sing me to sleep u.u

I cant even explain how much this book annoyed me. The characters were unbearable and the writing made me feel like I was reading some really bad kinda of One Direction Fan Fiction or something??? The story itself would not have been so bad if they got rid of the romance with the pop star and focused on the teenage girl having to provide for her mother, and the PND and those parts. But instead it was another book about a teenage girl who spirals into some sick depression where she wont even eat because a boy dumped her, even though they barely knew each other. And just the general possessiveness and controllingness of it made me very uncomfortable. As much as I liked Marcus over many of the characters I probably wont read the rest of the Sea Breeze series.

first of all, i must say that, breathe nott being my first abbi glines book, made me kind of know what i was going to get. i read the fallen to far series, and i hated it. but i thought i would vive her another chance, since i also read the first book to the Vincent boys duology and it was not too bad. but i was desapointed. i read 10 pages and i couldn't keep going. i knew it would be extremely cliche, and it was even worse than what i was expecting. it starts off OK, but the momento she gets into the said rockstar house it made me cringe. the insta affection between the characters, the way sadie sees herself as dull, the way she is "indifferent" to the celebrity, and the "relationships" made me think this book was written by a 15 year old. no more abbi glines books for me.

** spoiler alert ** Just started reading another series by the amazing Abbi Glines. I needed a break, well a temporary one from the Rosamry beach series. So I decided to go the Sea Breeze series and guess what? I found love once again. I absolutely love Jax and Sadie, they are very well written and they have a speciall place in my heart along with Rush and Blaire. Jax is the guy most of the teen girls want, he has all, fame and fortune. Well, almost everything. Until he meets Sadie and falls for the little town girl. They're story is very well developed and he does what he can to keep her safe from his world. Well obviously that doesn't work. Anyone thought it would? And in the end he leaves her to protect her... And then there was that tiny moment that made me member the Twilight story. Yes, I know. But well at least it is better written that that. So congratullations to Abbi for another good work and now to the 2nd book in the series.

-I read the updated version- I love the Sea Breeze series and have been waiting for the updated version of Breathe to come out since that was the only one I hadn't read yet. This book did not disappoint and I am super happy that I waited to read the updated version. I liked Jax's point of view as well as some of the steamier scenes and I can't imagine getting as into the story without those two things. This book did not disappoint! I loved the characters in the story-Sadie and Jax of course, but also Marcus (who I already loved thanks to Because of Low), Amanda, and many other characters. I also really enjoyed the relationship betwen Sadie and Jax-how it built and where it ended up. Now I need to read the other books again as I hadn't paid much attention to Sadie and Jax when I first read them. I recommend this to all fans of Abbi Glines, and to those looking for a great NA novel.

I wanted to like this book, like I have liked other Abbi Glines books, however that was not the case. I had a lot of eye rolling throughout. I felt like Jax could have been written better, more like a 19/20 year old guy. I feel like this book was very cheesy, really YA which I usually don't have a problem with. My biggest issue was Sadie, she irritated me so much. Very immature, but she had a couple of good moments. I'll still read the rest of the sea breeze books because I've read 2 others already and those were very good.

I remember reading this book on my Kindle aaages ago and really liking it, but this time round I wasn't quite so impressed. Breathe is a major chick-lit, based on the love story of rock star Jax Stone and regular teen Sadie White. They meet by chance when Sadie takes her pregnant mother's job, which happens to be at the Stones' summer house. They face multiple obstacles, such as Sadie's other admirer and the invasive press sharing stories about each of them. Eventually, Jax decides it would be best for Sadie if he didn't drag her into his life of fame. Heartbroken, she falls under a 'dark blanket' which she is only freed from when Marcus appears at her window. Finally out of her slump, Sadie gets herself a new job. Sadie is shocked to find her mother in labour as she returns from work one day, and panics to get her to hospital. But the birth is only the start of her difficulties; her mother is struck with severe post-partum depression, and so Sadie is stuck taking care of her little brother. Little Sam keeps Sadie on her toes, driving her to black out on the way to school due to exhaustion. After two weeks, she wakes up to find herself in a hospital room, with... Jax. The two of them decide to get back together, and make plans for the future. So, this book is an extreme romance. It's soppy, cheesy, and just totally unrealistic in my opinion. I guess a lot of girls may like it due to it being what many dream of - a beautiful romance with a hot teen idol. But I just found it so fake, and even the grammar is often incorrect and speech is written so strangely... Like, nobody would talk like that. It's just not accurate. Sorry, but this just isn't my kind of book. So 2.5 stars from me. BookMarked

I haven't even finished this yet, but it's already the worst book I've ever read. There are no words to explain how terrible this book is. I can definitely tell that this was her first book because it's horrible.

Well. For a starter I was really looking forward to read this book, and once I got it in my hands I must admit I couldn't stop reading. The story itself is okay, nothing extraordinary or something I haven't seen/read before. Yet it IS written in a way that captured me, and it wasn't boring at any parts. The characters are also okay, I didn't really feel connected to any of them. Something I don't understand how this story can go on for eight more books without getting boring, so I'm a little insecure about wether to continue the series or to stop here for now. I did, however, enjoy the first book, and I'm sure I'll be reading it again sometime.

Clear case of Mary Sue-ism and taking the templates of Twilight's Bella and Edward into the world of "rock 'n roll". Bella Sadie was gorgeous but felt she was dull and not worth anyone's notice, and she was the grown up, her mother was hopeless about paying bills and remembering to use condoms. She also had less personality than a stale Ritz cracker that you find covered in dust bunnies and cat fur under the couch during spring cleaning, and about as much appeal (to me at least). Her speech was wooden and completely unbelievable. The girl didn't even use contracted words for the first half of the book for fuck's sake. Edward Jax was perfect in every way but tortured over his inability to shield his lady love from the bad things in his life. Everyone thinks he's untouchable but all it takes is one quiet girl to capture his attention and WHAM! he's fallen into insta-love with her. Because she sees the real him. Naturally. And he proceeds to claim to have her best interested at heart (while he spends the first two weeks stalking her from his bedroom window), then making a public display of their relationship and acting all surprised when shit hits the fan. There's even a near-catatonic shut down when he breaks up with her where she doesn't eat or drink or sleep for days until Jake Marcus, aka the guy-friend-who-is-also-in-love-with-Sadie-and-repeatedly-tells-her-that-her-boyfriend-is-not-good-for-her, comes to her rescue and pulls her out of her misery. And let's not leave out the hospital stay where Edward Jax has to bring Bella Sadie out of her coma by promising to stay with her forever. If you're looking for barely disguised schmoopy Twilight fanfic without the paranormal element, you'll adore this. If you're looking for a well-written teen romance peopled with characters who have more than two dimensions and are capable of rubbing a couple of brain cells together, I suggest skipping this.

Not a bad story, but nothing special. I really hated the dialogue though. It was way too formal and stilted compared to what teenagers actually sound like. And I thought it was so cheesy that Sadie and Jax called each other their "air." Too much cheesiness for me lol but if you're into sweet contemporaries, Breathe would be a good way to go.
