I'm now a fan, Agatha Christie 🙌

3.75 stars I must have read this when I was younger because I remember bits and pieces. But nothing could prepare for that ending. The setting and characters were immersive. It’s fascinating to see how people might act under such circumstances. How the mind plays trick on us all. I also love how we are constantly questioning how and who could have done it and why. And let’s just say I’m fairly happy with the reveal! It’s fitting but surprising nonetheless.

Pretty much the zenith of the genre, yes?

The OG murder mystery by the Queen of Crime. Definitely a must-read because it's a classic, but not the greatest murder mystery of all time. I enjoyed the fast pacing but the ending was a bit far-fetched imo.

Pretty solid mystery book. Quick to read, easy to follow, but still had some fun twists.

a classic that everyone loving crimes and mysteries would love, the story is intriguing and full of suspens while also being easy to read.

the way my woahs kept getting louder 😭

This was nice!! Loved it!

I think that this book was a very interesting book and I would recommend it to anyone that likes reading murder mysteries that take place in a secluded area. I also can say that I definitely was not expecting the ending per usual with Agatha Christie book and I also think that you can really see how the times have changed since this story was written.

Obvious and drawn out.

Fun murder mystery. Agatha Christie with another banger

Precursor of Greatness And There There Were None is a good mystery but the same can't be said about the book itself. I enjoyed reading the big reveal, but everything before it was lukewarm. There was an obvious lack of emphasis on the characters. Fast-pacing is a good thing since it never bores the reader, however, it is a double-edged sword. I never wanted to drop the book, but the deaths were so frequent that it never gave me time to soak in the repercussions. Furthermore, the general lack of reaction to these murders, by other characters, save shoving the body in a secluded room didn't help either. A novel of this sort should be dripping with tension, but there wasn't enough even to scrape up from the bottom of the barrel. That being said, a lot of tropes and the idiosyncrasies of the writing style can be seen in their incipient stages that would be perfected for this very genre. Additionally, the writing clearly betrayed the time period of the piece, and I appreciated its distinguishable style from modern writings. Overall, it can be a good read for someone concerned with just the mystery element, however, it is definitely not the writing style for me.

the suspense this story made me feel was so intense it made it hard to put the book down

I did not see the ending coming! I love how Agatha Christie can write a book just short of 300 pages and still have created such an intense, detailed murder mystery.

“Be sure thy sin will find thee out” This book was so suspenseful and intriguing that I found it difficult to put down! Such a great mystery book that made me want to read it all at once!

Did not see that coming

Very clever locked room mystery. Trying to figure out who the murderer was was extremely fascinating, and the ending is different from any mystery I've ever read

This is my first A.C. book and glad I listened to everyone who suggested starting with this book. I finished it in 24hours, I just couldn't put it down. I need to know what happen, who did it, how and why! I am such a sucker for mysteries. I love that the book doesn't have to be very long to conclude the story and that's one great point of her writing style there. I hope that majority of her book is like this.

read this as a kid and it blew my mind away.. (pun intended)

Considerando che si tratta di un giallo posso dire che è stato fantastico. L'ho letto tutto d'un fiato in un giorno perchè non volevo staccare gli occhi dalle pagine.

The second book of Agatha Christie that laid on my shelf this month.. and expectedly, much better than the other one that I've read! It's about the secret agents in a little private island to guess who is the murder of all. The author created an easy-plot with different cases to solve which makes this book uniquely amazing! I have nothing much to say since I read it in the middle of my quite pack schedule so this book wasn't really enjoyable for me.. Like, I expected so much more or maybe my situation wasn't capable to absorb all the story into the jar. But if you love mystery detective cases with several discusssion (sorta look like a werewolf game) this book was made for you. "The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. The Lord is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. The wicked shall be turned into hell."

Best crime fiction book I've ever read.

My favorite book till now of agatha christie. Got you biting your nails and guessing till the end. Read this whole book a day before my final exam so do please understand the level of mindbonglingness (not a word I know but I am sure you get the feeling) this book reached.

i could NOT stop reading this oh my god???? and then the ending.. wtf

“In the midst of life we are in death.”

Don’t you feel–all the time–that there’s someone. Someone watching and waiting?

Afraid of death…we’re all afraid of death…I’m afraid of death… Yes, but that doesn’t stop death coming…

“There was a case in America. Old gentleman and his wife, both killed with an axe. Middle of the morning. Nobody in the house but the daughter and the maid. Maid, it was proved, couldn't have done it. Daughter was a respectable middle-aged spinster. Seemed incredible. So incredible that they acquitted her. But they never found any other explanation.”
