To keep in mind i) two previous Poirot mysteries are minorly spoiled in this book (Murder on the Orient Express and and Lord Edgware Dies ) ii) the polarity of the pacing between the first and second half of the book: the first half's leisurely-paced presentation of the characters switches to a dizzyingly fast-paced second-half where the crime and its resolution take place.

I don't remember rating this 5* but I'll keep it ... Mrs. Allerton shivered. "Love can be a very frightening thing." "That is why most great love stories are tragedies..."

[ EDIT 18/08/22 ] Settle it lower (to 3 dot), because I absolutely won't put this in the same place as TSOB, which, for me, is far greater than whatever this was. . . [ ORIGINAL REVIEW ] Absolutely conflicted on whether I should give this book 3 or 4 stars. I'll settle it to 3.5 for now. The rest of the book is very Christie-stylish. Heavy from the characters relationship; detailed at informing each person's motive. Everyone could be a killer, that's the message. It was conveyed quite okay, though the leads to that was something repetitive. Honestly, of course it's not bad. I read this in a day, a 400 paged book in a day. That's a sign of a good thing. Besides, the setting of this book is quite unique. A ship going its way on Nile! Guess how many book took a place in the Nile? But honestly, the overall story is quite... /Eh/. The characters are bland as fuck. I mean.. they're dimensional, yes, but every single one of them was acting by their own certain assigned archetype. There is no layers in them besides their given personality, like a wooden fucking doll. If Christie want to go to a range in which everyone get a little more spotlight to their self it would've been saved. But the overall of their characters are just an assigned pre-given personalities. They're so unrealistic. Then the conflicts. So they just want to brush off some things that was served as the plot device once it was becoming unnecessary? That's not totally cool. Besides, Tim and Rosalie suddenly get married—what? Ngl, the murder method is amazing. Jackie had it all as the mastermind, and it's quite charming. But the overall execution was so rushedly described that it become tastless to the reader. Everything was served on the last 5 pages... Of course it become bland. But okay, it was cool. The plans are god tier. But really, the motive is /yuck/. I know that "love" is a common abstract concept that have been used in many literatures as the first driver of people going corrupt, but that's a little bit lazy, LOL. I also think that the execution was as lazy. Oh, so Poirot is a genius—that's that. There is no explanation to where the readers should come to the same enlightenment. "Let's let Poirot do all the works" So well, I guess that's it. That's the book. 3.5/5??? 3/5??? Idk. Anyways, And Then There Were None is a masterpiece. [ ADDITIONAL REVIEW ] Mau ngomongin soal terjemahannya. Saran aja, terjemahannya tolong diperhatikan, ya. Lihat konteks, dan jangan take everything too literally. ALSO, semoga editornya juga mau berkembang, ya, karena masih banyak kesalahan yang harusnya bisa ditangkap sama editornya. Semangat penerbit Gramedia~ ^^

I'd never read an Agatha Christie before but I LOVED this and now I need to read more!!! Made my mom read it too hahahaha [she loved it too :') ] Likes: -Hercule Poirot is so charming!! -She uses so many good words! This queen knows the English language well, as I'd expect from the author who is only outsold by Shakespeare and the Bible lol. -All of the characters were so interesting! Especially enjoyed Jacqueline, Tim, Mrs. Allerton, and Mrs. Otterbourne. -I did NOT guess this ending omg. -the part at the end w/ Tim and Hercule. -um the parts about Mrs. Otterbourne's novels??? -The very last scene?? I- -The setting was very cool. There honestly wasn't anything I particularly disliked.

Another great book my the Queen of mystery Agatha Christie. Hercules Poirot is on a leisure trip to Egypt when he is sucked into drama, mystery and murders. While on a ship travel down the Nile, he encounters several murders that while connected are puzzling for his little grey cells. Through a series of suspenseful twist and turns, he must figure out who the murder is before they reach land.

This one I found hard to get into there where to many characters to follow and after hearing everyone say this one was great I was dissapointed. I knew instantly who the killers were and figured it out.

Not an awful read but not great. That being said I did like the setting

It had been far too long, so I had to throw in another Hercule Poirot. This is number 12 in the series.

This mystery starts with a murder on an airplane. An old money lender is seemingly struck with a poison dart and dies instantaneously, not being discovered until the end of the flight. M. Poirot, who does not do well in planes, was trying to sleep through the indigestion.

This wasn’t my favorite, I’ll be honest. It technically happens on a flight from France to England, and yet the people involved keep running into each other even though some of them aren’t even from the same country? It just seemed to fit together too neatly for me. After the inquest they were all allowed to go wherever they pleased and yet it kept happening?

Poirot is up to his usual antics, which is of course why I read these, but it did feel like she simply made up the ending. The clues and hints were simply not there for me. I like being surprised, and I like twists, but I do prefer when the information presented at least COULD point to what is true. And I felt as if it didn’t. For me that’s mostly what was lacking.

Personally still a 3/5* for me. I look forward to number 13, as it’s the ABC Murders…

Ha! I totally guessed whodunnit. This is one of the most famous Poirot novels, and I thought for sure it would give me the run for my money, but alas. A young heiress is murdered on a cruise down the Nile river, which triggers a series of crimes and deceptions. Luckily Poirot decides to vacation in Egypt...

A murder is committed on an airplane. It seems the number of suspects is set, and it is now up to the ever-present Poirot to measure his little grey cells against those of the clever perpetrator. A fun mystery novel, as usual, but I miss Hastings so much. When is he going to be back from Argentina?

I think that this book was an ok book it really didn’t wow me as much as I was hoping for. I think part of the reason is because it took so long for the mystery to actually begin. Overall I give this book 3.5 ⭐️stars.

I loved it! So thrilling and mysterious. I enjoyed being able to guess who I thought was the murderer. The only reason for the lose of one star was because of language. There were more swear words then I expected which I don’t prefer in the books I read but I have seen much worse.

We can't wait to watch the movie! There are moments of pure chemistry in this book between the characters, although things didn't end up entirely how we thought they would. Several subplots were a bit unbelievable, but overall a great audiobook for multiple weekend car trips.

Buddy read with a couple people. I read this first in March last year but nothing really processed in my brain so going in a second time still felt like a blank canvas. Agatha Christie, you bloody genius. tbh, i predicted the culprits and felt like a really really smart person and mind you that rarely happens so best know i was pretty dang proud of myself. I'd read this again in the future.
