This book almost went down to a 3 star review which would have really upset me as the first book was amazing but this one went wrong and the way it went wrong for me was with the romance! It's not even the romance itself (although there were a few lines which totally made me cringe with their cheesiness) but it was the fact an unnecessary love triangle was created with a character who should never have been put in a romantic role. I also got annoyed at some of the characterisation in this book. I just felt like it was off. Some characters acted to the extremes of their personality so it felt believable but only just and then some ended up flipping between two opposite roles and I didn't like it. I think this got lost in wrapping up a complex storyline whilst also trying to create tension through a love triangle. It was a disappointing ending when I adored the first book. I could tell there were hints of romance with the first one but they were taken too far in this one it just ended up feeling false. You can't win them all, right?
