The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post A Novel

"I Am Mrs. Post is a work of fiction. All incidents and dialogue, and all characters with the exception of some well-known historical figures, are products of the author's imagination and are not to be construed as real. Where real-life historical persons appear, the situations, incidents, and dialogues concerning those persons are entirely fictional and are not intended to depict actual events or to change the entirely fictional nature of the work. In all other respects, any resemblance to persons living or dead is entirely coincidental"--

I was really looking forward to this book. I thought it would be a kind of woman empowerment kind of book about all that Marjorie had accomplished in her life. In a way, it did that, and she did accomplish a lot. But she was always freaking married. Every time one of her marriages failed, she would be like 'Oh, I'm ok with being on my own for a while', and then she would marry someone again in the next year. Three marriages were pushing it, but when it all happened for a fourth time, it got excessive. I know this wasn't the author's fault, as she was just writing about Marjorie's life but it got pretty repetitive. It was interesting to read about history from her perspective and what she went through though.

I must admit I don´t always read synopsis and many times, I do read it but after adding it to my tbr where it most likely spent months waiting to be picked up- I have forgotten what it was about and put all the trust in my past self. All this to say that I read this entire book thinking it was historical fiction (think Evelyn Hugo) and, turns out, it is not. I´ll leave it to your imagination to try and picture my shock when the first couple of lines into the author´s note mention a quote about Marjorie Merriweather Post. God, what a life she lived. I, of course, have to research more into her life to know whether or not this is a good rendition to her life; but basing myself solely on this work, impressive feels so small. This woman did so much and went through so much; and honestly, it made me feel like TJR must have gotten some inspiration for Evelyn from Marjorie Merriweather Post and if that was the case, she did not do her justice.
