Find this review and others like it at https://aravenclawlibraryx.wordpress.com tw: sexual advances not consented, parental death, sexual assault, murder, accidental death, sexual content I was looking for an easy book to read. Something that I could just breeze through and give my tired brain a bit of a rest. I was in between reading about Himmler and a very boring Danielle Steel book. So my mind was just a little bit shot. Plus, I realized I hadn’t read a good old erotica novel in a while, not since I’ve finished the Beauty series by Anne Rice. So I looked through my Overdrive wishlist and saw this book. I remember reading some good reviews on it so I decided to give it a shot since it was readily available. Holy cow, I loved this book! The sex scenes were super spicy. The deep attraction and passion between Kyrie and Roth was hot! The one thing that made me really like this book was the theme of consent. Kyrie didn’t have to do anything she didn’t want to do. Kyrie was even though on her own free will. She could leave at any time she wanted to and didn’t have to explain herself. I loved that so much. Consent in erotica can be really hit or miss sometimes. Kyrie was a fantastic MC. She was actually human with thoughts and feelings that made sense. I liked her friendships and the way she felt a duty to her family. I sympathized with her as she struggled to care for her family while being in debt. Being poor is awful and I know exactly what she was going through. I also appreciated how cautious she was with Roth. She didn’t just give in, which I can respect. Overall, she is one of my favorite MCs. I did end up guessing the plot twist pretty early on but that didn’t diminish my enjoyment of this book. I liked being proven right because it’s not often when I am right. I also liked the way the book ended. It’s a trilogy but I didn’t feel like I absolutely have to read the rest. I might later on down the road, if I feel like it but we will have to see. Overall, this book was just what I needed. I felt myself going into a slump. This book empowered me to finish the rest of my books I’ve started and even get some of my reviews written and out of the way. Maybe one day, I’ll finish the rest of the trilogy but for now, I am happy with the way this book ended.

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance Over the past few months I have seen this title available at my local library and I kept overlooking it not sure if I would like it since I tend to be picky about erotic romance especially if it has kink in it. However I decided to just grab this up especially since I was in the mood for a mouthwatering alpha male and boy I was pleasantly surprised. Now I know that this book is not for everyone, and after seeing some mixed reviews on it before reading it is what made me hesitate on reading it for so long however I am thrilled that I took a chance on this one. It was delicious, hot as sin and romantically poignant at times. I love the sweet and tender moments that happen between Roth and Kyrie. The sex scenes are spicy and hot and so wonderfully done. The beginning of the story is more of a build up of sorts....building trust and communication. They slowly learn each other, and I was impressed with the way their relationship grows. Its not what you expect and I like a story that isn't predictable. Had a fun time with Alpha and can't wait for Beta and continue this pair's story. Click To Buy On Amazon [foogallery id="26018"]

Super steamy and easy read. Only complaint was the editor sucked and missed a million typos and doubled words and wrong tense use.

* 1.5 stars this was kind of ,, problematic. surprisingly not enough to put it down, but there are some serious issues with the characters and their relationships, and it *seems* like it’s reflecting the author’s problematic views because they don’t really have another purpose so ... i don’t feel too good about that. i literally just cared about the reveal which took 400 pages, and everything else had me ready to throw hands.

The plot was absolutely unbelievable and ridiculous, which I can usually forgive in smut since the plot isn't really the point. I did think the characters had some good chemistry, and I'm still in a reading slump that apparently only smut can fix, so into the sequel!
