The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

“she moves me. moves me in a way that nothing does.” • so, I didn’t realize this would end on a cliffhanger, but since the other books are out, it wasn’t the worst feeling in the world. honestly, not a whole lot happens in this book. Ashley jumps from a yacht once it’s taken over by murderous drug dealers. she’s found by Poseidon and his crew, who she believes to be rescuing her. unfortunately, she quickly finds out she’s just landed on another ship as a captive. of course, they begin to fall for each other in a very volatile manner. ultimately, a very traumatic event occurs in the last couple chapters, leading to our cliffhanger. even though this wasn’t my favorite, I’ll still finish the series because they are very quick reads, and I do want to know what happens. • read if you like: ♡ rescue-turned-captive ♡ he teaches her how to swim ♡ modern day pirates ♡ dual pov ♡ dark romance ♡ anti-heros ♡ retelling-adjacent ♡ treasure chasing ♡ being weirdly obsessed with the sea ♡ daddy issues trigger warnings: ☞ murder ☞ addiction ☞ sexual assault ☞ mention of parental abuse ☞ questionable consent •

You had me at "pirate". This one is so different from the Hades & Persephone and Zeus & Brigit series. Poseidon is definitely not as steamy and dark as his brothers, but I did really enjoy it! I found Ashley kind of naief at times, and even just plain annoying. But then there's a hot pirate, a drug deal gone wrong and kidnappings to keep me on my toes. And that cliffhanger, holy shit!
