Accidentally, a Book
Accidentally, a Book is a collection of notes and short essays on reading and reading spaces in Leiden and elsewhere. It is on publishing, translating and styles of writing and the pleasures of bookish materialities. The book incorporates Andy’s drawings of book covers which form a part of the stimulus for the notes and reading practices. “I started making these notes after reading a wonderful and hilarious self-help book: How to Break Up with Your Phone. Instead of opening Strava or WhatsApp, I started to take out my box of 36 coloured pencils and draw the covers of the random books on my shelf. I deliberately tried to avoid any grand plan in devising or framing this apparent-book, but wanted it to be loose and inadvertent – thus, the title, Accidentally, a Book.” The cover and layout is by regular-RSP collaborator Amarawati Ayuningtyas.
