Lost Mountain A Novel
Romance set in an artist community in remote Alaska will appeal to romance readers but also to outdoor enthusiasts and fans of nature/environmental/CliFi writing and TV shows. Debut novelist is well connected and has had several Pushcart nominations and received fellowships from the Alaska State Council on the Arts and the Rasmuson Foundation. Novel centers around the Pebble Mine Project, a proposed mine that threatens the Bristol Bay salmon fishery – arguably the greatest wild salmon fishery left on the planet. Robert Redford and other enviro VIPs vocally oppose this project. The novel addresses hazards of open-pit mining and includes references to specific mining techniques. Because the information is presented in the context of a love story with fictional characters, the format is more engaging than if it were offered via a scientific publication. Author is currently filming a documentary about Brown Carlson, an earlier version of Dick Proenneke, who lived in Lake Clark.
