I am confused.
Thank god this was fast paced, so it was fastly over again.
I see the potential, it could have been amazing but unfortunately it was.. not. This isn’t even enjoyable if you leave your logic at the door.
„You’re just a regular girl, Lakyn, except you’re not.“
We have eight main characters with zero personality. They just exist. We mainly follow Lakyn who seems to be pretty special because everyone is obsessed with her, yet all her character consists of is whining over a heartbreak from three years ago and a guy, she gets back to anyway. As I said, I‘m confused.
„New people don’t know about the guys, and what they are to us.“
Yeah, me neither because no one dares to explain how or why or when that special relationship happened. In contrast to the bland girls, the only thing the dudes characters consist of is their over protective and controlling behavior. I can enjoy some alpha-douchbag characters, if it’s done in a morally grey and seductive kind of way, but not when the book suffocates me with red flags. The guys actually believe they „own“ the girls and dictate them what they do, where they go and who they meet.
“I can’t help but think watching me murder someone made your pussy drip with need. Am I right?”
There happened a lot of weird stuff I won’t talk about in detail, in case anyone really wants to read this book in the future. As I’ve encountered a lot of weird content this year, it’s quite an achievement to surprise me. The bar is low my friends.
And of course the book ends on a damn cliffhanger. Ugh. Will I pick up the next part for getting my peace knowing the big secret? Yes. Will I actually read it? Hell no.
