The Ship of Stars
'The Ship of Stars' is a romance novel written by Arthur Quiller-Couch. The story begins by introducing us to the protagonist while he's still a young eight-year-old boy who thinks that three angels are waiting to take his grandmother's soul, and that he has Luke as his angel because of his name, Taffy—short for Theophilus. Taffy's father is a poor clergyman named Samuel Raymond, who won a scholarship to attend Christ Church, Oxford, and married Taffy's mother, Humility, after meeting her on a trip to Devon. Taffy's parents have been married for about ten years, and Taffy is their only child.
