-i love david mygoodness he may be one of the mature heroes ive ever read wow what a man -and yara is such a great heroine definitely does not follow the usual formula of a heroine -i also love how this book define what love is,,, it’s just refreshing i mean i just read romance books that defines love in that kind of way that i knew already or something so yeah it was nice to read like a book exploring like a different side of love so yeah :) def my all time fave books awee ✨

Same writing style, same complex characters, but a lot lighter than most of her other books. Because of this it is probably her most relatable book yet (personally, although I find something of myself in each of her books. Like the stalker I am, I always tweet out to her and ask her to stop reading my mind, but then I would deny myself being understood and I can't have that). I loved how she wove pieces of another one of my favorite books Fuck Love into the narrative and added even more meaning behind the quote "Live barefoot and fucking fight." Every time I look back on that it just adds ire to the fire. I hope it becomes a rally cry for broken people everywhere. Yara and David were beautifully broken people. And her character development with the two was not lacking. David was emotionally present and Yara emotionally distant - a "heartless romantic" (which is my new favorite description). Tarryn was able to convey how people jump through hurtles to get through their past hurt and hopefully make themselves better for it even after running for years. It gives me hope and I love it. Side Note: I really really dislike Petra. I knew girls like her before and they are not my favorite in the world. Girls are supposed to support girls.

Maybe 3.5. Some amazing quotes fill the book but Yara is too insufferable to allow me rating this book anything higher than a 3.

I love the style of writing. The emotions had influenced me through the words. Tarryn Fisher, now your name is in my favorite authors list. ^^

Imagine my excitement when I opened my email and found an eARC of Atheists Who Kneel and Pray in my inbox. I’m such a huge fan of Tarryn’s, so I was very excited to check out her newest work. I honestly didn’t even know about this one until a few weeks ago, but I was instantly draw in by the synopsis and, well, the fact that it was by Tarryn Fisher. Yeah, I’m a fangirl. No shame. As with all of Tarryn’s work, it’s impossible not to get attached to the story and characters right from the first chapter. Though her writing style always takes a bit for me to get used to, I consistently find myself falling for her characters and their lives. Right from the beginning I liked Yara. She wasn’t the easiest character for me to relate to, honestly, but i did feel for her and admired her sense of adventure, willingness to constantly relocate, and her strength upon living her life almost completely on her own. Though I have absolutely nothing in common with Yara, I did find myself drawn to her in a way. That, however, changed as the story progressed, and I found myself disliking her quite a bit. Not in a now-I-hate-this-book kind of way, just that I wasn’t a fan of hers anymore and felt that a lot of the choices she was making were quite selfish. When I come across characters like this, I really yearn for a whole lot of character growth, and I’m happy to say that at least Tarryn delivered in that regard. David, on the other hand, I actually the opposite. When we first meet David, it’s under a somewhat weird circumstance and I can’t say that he made a very good first impression. That having been said though, he did prove himself to me as I flipped pages, and after a pretty short amount of time I was a fan. Go David!! He had such a good heart, and though he wasn’t perfect, he really did mean well. These two together was honestly a tough pill to swallow. I wasn’t sure that I would ever enjoy their relationship… but guess what? I totally did!! The ups and downs, ins and outs of these two was such a roller-coaster, and I quite enjoyed the ride. I also enjoyed how the story played out. I had no idea how this story would turn out at the end, and I did like the way it came about. I have to say the ending felt just a tad rushed, but overall I was happy with how things went down. Another great read from Tarryn! If you haven’t read any of her books yet, I’d strongly recommend you do. As I stated earlier, she has this really interesting writing style that always takes me a bit to get into. But I adore it, and her words always seem to hit pretty hard, and pretty deep. She’s writes the most gorgeous sentences I’ve ever seen. (See Becca’s quotes above. They’re just gorgeous!!) This is one to add to your TBR’s for sure! (Thank you to Tarryn Fisher for providing me with a copy of this book.)
