One thing I like the most is how different the Titans are from humans, not just height-wise, but overall behavior. The very fact that they only consume humans for the sake of killing and not eating as well as the fact that they don't have genitals is astonishing. I'd like to know more on the behavior of the Titans, if it will be revealed at all. My very last thought is: DOES EREN DIE? I'm sorry but I much rather it be Armin. Oh well, the story went better than expected. And man are those Titans creepy.

The only manga in my GoodRead shelves. I will not get over it. Like never. Hajime Isayame is like… I don’t have the words to express nor explain how marvelous his work is, but with the release of the final season part 3 and before he changes the ending I wanna write this :)

Great idea. Nice story. Mediocre dialogue. Bad artwork. REALLY bad artwork. To the point where it was pissing me off. But hey, what can you do?! AoT is overall lucky that its story is interesting to me so I'll pick vol.2 as well at some point and hope the artwork gets better.

Trashy, naive despite its gore - but it has produced icons. Probably gets better after this exposition volume but I’m not hooked.

Since this is my very first Manga I am not sure how to review it. The drawings were in-depth and the story was gripping. It'll take some getting used to. The images are a huge part of the story and I find it to be a wonderful new way of communicating things like pain and action scenes. I can't wait till I can purchase Volume 2 now!

★★★★☆ I give the whole series 4.5 out of 5 Note: I have finished all 139 episodes or 34 volumes of this. However, I will write a general review only here to avoid flooding the feed with endless updates This is one of the best well-written manga I have come across in a while. Appalled at my younger self who refused to pick this up years and years ago due to whatever reasons. It's the post-apocalyptic world where the surviving humans of the world got walled-up in this unknown place. Out there were titans, a gigantic human-like creature made of fear itself. Towering as high as 50 feet, they fed on humans only to barf the remains out hours after - everything about them was absurd and very, very terrifying. To emancipate themselves from hundreds of years of terror, humanity must come together to find ways to eliminate the Titans once and for all, but at what cost? Children were trained as soldiers to sacrifice their lives for humanity. Unnecessary deaths after another and useless sacrifices gradually corroded the spirits of both the characters and readers alike. As the story progressed and the characters pushed more toward feverish dreams of freedom, chains of consequences would lead them up to the most important question of all - what do they fight for? who's exactly the real enemy? It's a story of violence, an endless cycle of hatred, exhausting wars, and the intergenerational impacts of racism on humanity. Reading this can make one feel despair at times, but it forces you to look at wars and conflicts right in the eyes. It's very deep and thought-provoking. The characters created by Isayama are one of the most memorable bunches in the history of manga. Everyone is in their own shades of grey - no one is all good, but not all about them is bad either. They have their own torments and redemptions. It would play so many tricks on your empathy, sympathy, and judgment so much that it becomes so exhilarating and exhausting to keep up with these folk! My favorites are Reiner, Armin, Levi, and Zeke While people diligently roast Hajime Isayama's art style (I was also on that bandwagon as well), his exceptional progress is inspiring and so satisfying to see. It's like seeing him grew into a fine/legendary mangaka right before my eyes. Once I got used to his art, I got no problems appreciated the deadpanned, subtle emotions conveyed by the characters. I think whatever Isayama lacks in the field of art skills, his creativity compensates the empty space beautifully. Also, the guy had no problems developing a fine character just to kill them off within a number of pages. That takes balls, considering such an act could disrupt his fan bases all over the world.

I don’t completely know how I feel about this manga yet but I do know that I’m enjoying myself enough that I finished the whole first volume in one sitting. The whole concept of the Titans is very intriguing and I’m looking forward to seeing how the action develops.

This was definitely a very interesting read. However, I'm not sure the manga is really my style. I can see why people like it, but it feels like something that would take forever to give you real answers to what's actually going on. I also feel like the anime is going to do a lot of monologging in order to explain how the world got the way it did. (I haven't watched it yet, so we'll see.) Ultimately, I'm not saying it's a bad series, but I'm just not sure it's for me. I definitely don't buy the "It's Japan's version of The Walking Dead!" quote on the back cover.

As graphic and gorey as it is, the world just sucks you in. You want to learn the mystery of the titans and you want to see the soldiers succeed in their fight for survival.

This was pretty good to be honest. My best friend is really into the anime, and now she owns the first volume. Of course she made me read it, but I do see where all the hype comes from! I really like the whole idea behind this, but I'm not invested into the story yet so it honestly can't be a 5 star read. I wasn't a huge fan of the art style. I found some of the drawings to be rather good, but on the other hand, some were a bit sloppy and sketchy. Definitely going to check the anime out, tho.

Am I trying to read all the available chapters before the last one comes in a few days? Yes. Am I going to succeed? I doubt it. Anyway, I really enjoyed the first one, and it's so different from the anime but I really enjoyed it!
