Ahh...another good ol fantasy academy series with a headstrong female main character...a fun guilty pleasure read for me. My only thing is that european beauty standards are really exemplified in this book, especially with the fae being exceptionally beautiful and the main character being white and blonde. I wish there were more diverse characters, but the book does bring up some points about poverty and misogyny, so I guess it could be worse.

I will be the first to admit that this is a classic corny fated mates book with a Mary Sue main character. Did I still love it??? Damn right, and I stand by thatš look you want hot fae males than get in here. I think itās really unique that this book incorporated magical fae AND the modern world. I saw the words MacBooks and AirPods and got confused at first but itās actually a really interesting worldscape.

Okay...I AM SO OBSESSED!!!!!! I am slowly absolutely falling in love with Audrey Greyās work!! This was soooo amazing! I loved absolutely everything about this book! I really loved the concept of the Fae having human ābody gaurdsā, if you will, that they rely on to protect them. I think that is such an interesting and unique concept. With that being said, I really liked the plot line of this story. There were times where certain things would happen that reminded me of other books, but I absolutely loved how the story progressed and developed throughout. Another thing that I absolutely loved was the modern world setting. Iāve never read a Fae story written in the modern world before, so it was super interesting and refreshing to have all the modern day references scattered throughout the book. Now for the characters. I absolutely loved them!! I loved all the relationships we saw in this. Both the relationship Summer had with her family, to seeing her make friends in the academy, to OBVIOUSLY growing to love the hate to love relationship Summer had with the Prince. I really enjoyed the romance in this. It was your classic hate to love troupe that had its unique twists. I am a sucker for the hate to love/enemies to lovers troupe, so I obviously adored this one. I think the backstory to Summer and the Princeās relationship is really interesting (mind you I totally called it from the beginning) and addictive. Overall, I CANNOT WAIT TO READ THE NEXT INSTALLMENT!!! I am slightly triggered that I wonāt get to read it until itās released next year...

It was sooooooo good

I hate this book so fucking much. Oh my god. I hated this book as soon as I got to the 6% markā¦ Then I hated it more when we got 29% inā¦ And then I decided I hated the time Iām using to read this at 56% markā¦ And by the time we got to 93% in, I wanted to unalive myself. And do you want to know why I loathe this book? Summer ādumber that a pile of rocks with stupid motivationsā Solsticeā¦ Iāve never been more annoyed reading a character before in my whole life. This bitch was a walking contradiction. NOTHING SHE DID MADE AN OUNCE OF SENSE. oh you know stealing apples is wrong? Let me steal them anywaysā¦ Oh you want to keep your head down? Let me proceed to make a scene at every turn then wonder why everyone is looking at me. Like her ass eavesdropped so many times but then she never actually asked any questions? Instead she was concerned about why she wanted to fuck this Prince? How does she constantly just conveniently forget every single information given to her until the plot says she remembers? How is this dumb bitch even passing her classes? This book was cliched and predictable as hell which in and of itself wasnāt a bad thing because cliches are cliches for a reason, but when your FMC clearly only has one brain cell rolling around in that big ass head and insipid in every way it makes it so hard to even care because how this dumbo be like āI hate him.. but I like him and I must now make him like humans and care about usāā¦. What. The. Actual. Fuck. I just donāt get it. Like what was the reason??!! Like how is the freaking moron gonna look at the necklace and say it looks similar to hers and then move on. Like I wanna fight so badly. Yāall donāt even know. The more I sit here the more Iām fuming because like the writer was just hitting us over the head with literally everything. No subtlety whatsoever which is why itās so hard to believe that Sumner was so damn dumbā¦ but you know what? Thatās my bad cause she did try to warn us in Chapter 1 right off the bat: āMy motto: Better stupid and fed than smart and starving.ā That shouldāve been my clue to gtfo.. I wish Mack, Eclipsa and Asher were a polyamorous couple and then I wouldāve forgiven everything about this book. The 1 star that Iām giving the book is for them.

I love Audreyās style, I loved her other books and I was expecting nothing less from this one. Well, I was a bit disappointed. The style was beautiful as per usual, the female characters were amazing. But. There is a But: I have to say I am not completely sure about this book and about how I felt right after finishing it. Was it good? Yes, it was. Was it original? Not that much. Do I recommend this book? Yes, it was a light read and in the end a good book. I found many little details that immediately reminded me of other books and that was a big No for me. Even if sometimes I felt like I was reading more books at the same time, I have to say I enjoys this read. Every character was written amazingly except for one: I did not like the Winter Prince. I am not saying I hated him, but I found him to be a little dull, nothing particular. He reminded me a lot of other characters and that definitely did not help. The thing that really saved this book for me was the world building and the myths behind the story. I want to see where the author is going to go with the series before really make up my mind. Final vote: 3/5 Ebook provided by the author in exchange of an honest review.

Amazing! I cannot say it enough this series will suck you in and will leave you waiting for more! Not to mention it brings a new book boyfriend for us to enjoy!
