All My Friends Are Dead
Reviews

All My Friends Are Dead by Avery Monsen and Jory John has been making the rounds at our local BookCrossing group. It looks like a children's book but it's aimed at adults. The book starts with a dinosaur lamenting that all his friends are dead. It goes from there. There are things like a milk jug saying that all his friends are expired. Along with the silly observations on life and death are illustrations reminiscent of Mo Willem's easy chapter books. Although designed for adults, it does appeal to children. Both of mine have read it and laughed at it.

A not so children’s kids book.
I loved it, funny short.

A quite short but insightful book related to death and its impact on... Everything really.

cute but lowkey existential crisis inducing

Absolutely inspired. This is a children's book that captures the whimsy and creative thinking of childhood while being profound and hilarious.

this appeared in my yt recommendations, didn't expect that

So cute and darkly funny!

I love this book, makes me smile every time I read it. Life isn't that bad, all your friends could be dead.

cute but meh

Please tell me no one actually bought this book. It takes five minutes to read and all the jokes have the same punchline for the most part. I just don’t think it’s the kind of thing that needed to be sold. It’s five minutes of a few chuckles (if it’s your kind of humour) and then you forget about it and move on with your life. This is the kind of thing you see in passing on the Internet somewhere. Even though it’s a children’s book I still think it’s very dumb and simple. I think it’s kind of insulting on childrens’ intelligence and is something that isn’t memorable in the slightest. The art style is pretty basic which does go with the ‘humour’ as it’s all very simple ‘humour’. Nothing spectacular about it. The ending paragraph is why I gave it 2 stars instead of one, but even that’s being generous. Basically, I just can’t see why people would pay for this when it’s the most basic level of humour that doesn’t last longer than a few minutes. There are far better children’s books out there that are actually funny and educational, but also don’t bore adults.

Hilarious XD
