Barbarian's Touch A SciFi Alien Romance
Reviews

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance Barbarian's Touch is the seventh in this stunning and light science fiction romance that Ruby Dixon has delivered. I am getting a kick out of this Ice Planet Barbarian series and I just am so addicted to the wonderful world, sexy blue horned aliens and heroines that never disappoint. I truly got a kick out of Barbarian's Touch. This book starts off towards the ending of Book Six "Barbarian's Mate" This story features Rokan and Lila. Rokan traveled with other warriors to rescue two women in a abandoned crashed ship. Lila and her sister were rescued and in shock over what they have learned. That they were kidnapped and crash landed on a ice planet. All the unamted warriors including Rokan, were hoping their Khui's would vibrate the mating with one of the women. Rokan, may not know if Lila is his mate, but he has certain psychic talents and he knows that Lila's is his. He is drawn to her with such longing but doesn't want to scare her. However after they have placed Qhui's in Lila and her sister so they can survive, Lila is kidnapped by Hassen and taken to a cave. Lila however has one major problem, her cochulur implant that helped with her hearing and now she is deaf again. And no one but her sister can talk to her. And now she is stuck in a cave with a blue alien, that scares her but doesn't. But she escapes and finds herself in a dangerous situation and rescued by Rokan. Rokan is desperate to talk with his mate, and he knows that she is his when their qhui's connect and begin humming. He knows she doesn't understand the importance of resonance. He wants to learn her sign language, to show her of the depth of his feelings for her. Lila doesn't understand what is really going on except that Rokan is protective and sweet and tender with her. Lila has always been shy, and not very popular, always on the out with the crowd. She has never felt truly accepted apart from her sister until she meets Rokan. But as they journey together to understand and find a love worth fighting for....Lila and Rokan discover their own strengths and capablities and giving into the love and passion they feel for each other. I really had a fun time with this story, and I was also pleased by the length of the book...the longest I have read so far and it definitely didn't feel like only 300 pages. It was such a sweep you off your feet type of story and I always breeze through Ruby Dixon's book and this one was no exception. I truly adored Lila, and seeing the challenges of dealing with being deaf was so well written in this story. I truly felt that Ruby Dixon really worked her magic with showing how hard this can be for those that are deaf. But Lila....she is stronger than she realizes. There is so much character growth that builds from her character. At first she is shy and scared and yes being deaf again is NOT helping when only one person knows how to sign, her overprotective sister. But when she is kidnapped and then rescued, she begins to find her own courage and strength. We see how capable she really is. She fights for freedom, to be her own person and learn as much as she can about her new life and not be a burden. “You only wanted me after you started purring.” “I came for you even before that happened.” Rokan is so sweet and a virgin (like all of Dixon's heroes) and man....I love a good virgin hero. They are so rare in romance, and I just gobble them up and Rokan was no different. I loved how devoted and protective he is of Lila but at the same time teaches her to be self suffiecient and show her how to survive. You see that he wants to just protect her, but he also knows that she needs to know how to hunt, to start a fire, to protect herself from predators. I love how much he wants to love her and communicate with her and prove to her how genuine he is in his feels for her. It was quite fun seeing Rokan and Lila discover pleasure together. Lila has hardly any experience and so we see them learn together about sex and it was truly so sensual and endearing. Such a fun, heartwarming and richly filled with adventure and true connection....a romance that is going to curl your toes and keep you up all night reading, a spectacular installment and I know I need the next book hehe Bring it on Ruby Dixon!! I think this might have been my favorite from the series so far. A trope I usually don't read but fell in love with was the 'Nice guys do win and take your time loving me cause I'll love you forever'. Not sure if those are actual tropes titles but from now on they are and this is the book that they will be structured around. Lila and Rokan are the sweetest.

Very interesting characters with a few new developments!! Getting exciting.

Don’t look at me okay

Ok, so I think I have a new favourite story. This one definitely ranks up there with book two (liz and Raahosh) and is the longest book of the series. I loved seeing how Lila and Rokan came together and her worries around the resonance part of it (I'm surprised no one else had this worry, if I'm honest). The voices were strong, the characters wonderful, and it was great to see disability rep in the series finally! A must read!

This might come a close 2nd to book 1. This story hit me right in the damn feels. I was even more please our heroine is deaf. Rokan is honestly Godsend I wanted him off the pages and in MY furs.

This is now one of my favorites in the series. We have a deaf character named Lilah who goes from being weak and scared to learning how to take care of herself and being confident. The love interest Rokan learns to communicate with her and is incredibly sweet. The plot was pretty good with the kidnapping, the metlak who was kind, and the garden cave. It was a really good book and the longest in the series so far. I'm not sure if I'll like her sister's story with Hessan, but I'll give it a try. Also, how the heck is Farli who is a teenager getting her own story after that?!

,,,,, i cant believe it took eight books to get see more of the planet and omG PLOT AND oh my god i liked it it was fun

Just when this series was starting to feel a little stale, this book came along and livened it back up! (Also, I know that I said I was going to give this series a break and then I immediately started reading this book. Let me live.) This installment follows one of the new humans, Lila, who was trapped in the crashed ship for over a year before someone discovered her and her sister, Maddie. The most interesting thing about this book for me was that Lila is deaf, and the aliens who abducted her took out her cochlear implant. It was similar to the first book in a lot of ways, with no one being able to communicate with her except for Maddie. And then, of course, a bunch of the aliens start fighting over her and who will get to be with her and stuff, which is like. Meh. BUT the way that everyone approached Lila, wanting to learn sign language rather than "fix" her hearing, was really great! It's been previously established that it is possible to heal brain tumors, so it wouldn't have been far off for the author to say, "And her hearing is magically back, because of alien stuff!" But she made it very clear that Lila is strong and capable with or without her hearing, and that was pretty damn awesome.

These aren't bad and I do enjoy reading them but I think I need to take a break because they're all starting to kind of blend together

This book is my FAVORITE out of all of them. I can't even. I have cried and sobbed. This book is so fucking good. This series wasn't supposed to effect me like this. Fuck you. KNOW. YOU. HAVE. MY. HEART.
