Note to self: don't re-read this any time soon because Ivo and Serena may be very fun to read when they are sparring but become insufferably unapologetic characters by the end. Serena starts out likeable enough but the way she dismisses Emily's feelings and Fanny's fair assessment of them just put her completely out of favour with me. It's one thing to be tunnel-visioned when you're concerned about the feelings of someone you're in love with and quite another to be so far in your class-privilege bubble that you can't comprehend non-monetary motivations or alternate influencing factors for the actions of others less privileged. Only Kirkby, Fanny, Goring and Mrs. Floore come out in remotely good standing by the end of this particular Heyer! Mrs. Floore and Goring especially I could have read one more novel about.
