Omgggg. Joseph Carter is so ughhh. I know he's playing 3 women and he makes me so mad somehow. I just want them to know he's shuffling 3 of them. Even though he's not exactly exclusive with Jane and Siobhan,it's still somehow. It is getting super interesting because Miranda is getting suspicious and she knows he's lying to her.

I’m so ?? This was somehow entertaining and boring at the same time. I really didn’t care about any of the characters and found most of the book to be uninteresting but I was curious to see how everything turned out. For a book less than 350 pages, this dragged. I will say I DID get got by that twist though 👀 

IDEK how to describe my thoughts but a 3 feels right. This was definitely not a romance and more a book about three women. This books main plus is how unique it is! Very unlike anything I’ve read. 

ALSO— this man was not giving ANYTHING that warranted three grown women gagged over him. Ok

Interesting take on a romcom.. Took until probably the last 80% for me to change my mind on Joseph, which made for a bit of a slow read. Not my favorite by O’Leary but definitely enjoyed seeing how everything tied up in the end

Not a fan of this one! For like the first 200-250 pages I was just really uninterested and did not feel connected to the characters. There just didn’t see a purpose or any plot with this book and it wasn’t too enjoyable to read, I found myself speed reading to get through some parts. The end and the twist kinda redeemed itself a little but I was already over the book and just wanted it to end so it still wasn’t that shocking or thrilling to me, I kinda predicted it. Wouldn’t reccomend.

i went through sooo many emotions reading this book, mostly frustration and annoyance. many times throughout the book i wanted to (figuratively) throw it across the room, even thought about dnfing a few times. for most of it i didn't know how the author was going to provide an explanation that wasn't going to make me hate joseph, but she did. there were so many twists and turns, especially in the second half of the book, and i felt disbelief and shock after most of those reveals. 

i do have some complaints, like how the first half of the book felt so slow and how i felt that one relationship in particular wasn't developed enough, but ultimately the ending was simultaneously satisfying, devastating, heartwarming, and the journey i as a reader went through to finish the book felt very rewarding.

5 star story, but due to my gripes about some aspects of it, and my lack of enjoyment reading some parts of it, i'm giving the book 4.5 stars (i might lower it to 4 someday).

Wow, ok, this was the first rom-com in a while that I actually adored and thought to be a somewhat unique story! It took a very different turn from what I thought there towards the end, and that was so refreshing!

it was a little slow in the beginning and kind of cheesy, but overall a sweet, easy read

Like all Beth O’Leary’s books it is a very well-written romance with a slightly more serious tone. This works well and it still left me feeling warm and fluffy inside. My favourite Beth O’Leary book since “The Flatshare”.

A cute read, character development was *chefs kiss*.

I initially found it hard to keep track of who’s life I was reading about the first few chapters since it swaps between the 3 womens perspective. But I found the characters interesting enough, some more than others.

Each chapter within this book follows a different character and we see their storyline play out with some huge time jumping at times. Siobhan is a life coach who lives in Dublin and often commutes to London for face-to-face meetings with clients. Miranda is a tree surgeon, and what that means you ask – well, she climbs trees of precarious appearances and cuts branches, etc. Jane is a quiet and sweet one, and you sense she is fleeing from a past career and at present volunteers at a charity shop. Where does she gets the money to survive– well this is revealed much later too and forms part of the mystery.

While this book was good, I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I may have gone in with expectations for strong romcom elements, which I thought was missing, as in, I did not feel any build up or any sizzling chemistry/romance happening between any one of the three ladies and Joseph Carter. I think that the 3 individual storylines just didn’t work for me. But an Enjoyable read none the less.

I loved it. I didn't like Joseph's Character at first but I got to understand him better and I loveeeee him. The plot twist was quite unravelling, brought the whole book together. It's a lovely read.

My goodness that was a ride!! It took me a minute to get into but that last half was addictive! Just stayed up after a night shift to finish it. Such a lovely story

I am in love with this book. It broke me so many times, and was an absolute JOY to read — and oh so fantastically clever. 

This felt more like a contemporary fiction, with a sprinkle of romance and my gosh it worked. 

Every character was written SO well, I felt every single possible emotion towards them all. Their stories were real and raw and I’m so glad Beth O’Leary explored some difficult subjects in this book.

A contender for my favourite read of the year? YES!

After really enjoying The Flatshare this past year the description of this book really intrigued me. Three women are stood-up on Valentine’s Day, but, little do they know, it by the same man, Joseph Carter. 

Siobhan is a life coach, who is very successful, smart, and her own person. Joseph and her have a standing monthly date in London, but usually it as a hotel at night and for Valentine’s Day he asked her to breakfast, which he never shows up to. 

Miranda is a tree surgeon and is surrounded by men all day, so she is looking forward to her lunch date with Carter. After a long morning climbing trees and ignoring her co-worker, AJ’s flirtation, she ends up waiting at a restaurant all by herself. 

Jane works in a charity shop and has to go to a dreaded engagement party on Valentine’s Day, which Joseph has said he’d be her fake date for. Her co-workers don’t believe her and even less so after he doesn’t come to the party. 

The No-Show follows each of these women’s relationships with Joseph and dives deeper into their lives, asking what they want from the world. They each have their own trauma and relationships that questions not only what it means to be a partner, but also what it means to be a friend. 

I really enjoyed this story, and I was prepared to hate Joseph for his no-show dates, but this story is not what you think. It’s clever and surprising. It’s heartfelt and a tearjerker. 

I loved all the characters and the side characters too! You’d think with three different POVs it would be a lot, but O’Leary masterfully weaves them all together. 

I think if you enjoyed her other books, love romantic comedies, or stories about relationships (not only the romantic kind) you’ll enjoy The No-Show. 

This book discusses sexual harassment, miscarriage, death of a loved one, gaslighting, cheating, and dementia.
