If relatable comics were a genre, Sarah would be the queen. 
All her comics are amazing, and I especially have to mention the storyline she created about social anxiety towards the end. It was the most true, bare and unadulterated depiction. No exaggeration, no hyperbole! Lots of metaphors and analogies!

Big Mushy Happy Lump is a second collection of Sarah Andersen's very millennial-focused comics. They provide some good laughter, particularly if you are socially awkward. The art is cute, the cover is fuzzy, and while there are no deep life lessons, they are a nice escape from the daily grind for a half hour or so.

I really enjoyed this collection especially since these were comics that I hadn't read already. I find her humor right on par, and the situations very relatable. I will admit that I wasn't expecting her to start telling stories to go along with the panels so it took a few pages for my brain to switch into a more stand "reading mode". But it was highly entertaining. Also, I love the flocked cover.

I loved Adulthood is a Myth, so pretty much as soon as I finished reading it, I checked this one out of the library. It’s similar to the first collection – and that is not a bad thing! – in that most of the book is one-page standalone comics. However, there’s a few longer… articles, almost? – at the end which are text along with a series of connected comics. My favorite is the story about how she went from being frightened and skeptical of the internet cult of cats into being a indoctrinated into their feline wonder, thanks to cat sitting for her mom. But, to be fair, it was hard to pick a favorite as pretty much all of the comics made me laugh, just because they are so adorably relatable.



As before, there’s lots about dealing with society’s conflicting messages about womanhood, general geekiness, and books. Ms. Andersen is as insightful as always, pulling apart the stresses of modern life and presenting them in a way that had me relating to almost every comic. A lot of them deal with authenticity – that struggle of being “natural” but also, somehow, keeping all the messy stuff hidden.



(I’m sorry – that little superhero dance move in the fourth panel cracks me up every time.)

Societal commentary aside, there’s also comics that are pure hilarity. Why, yes, an angry uterus running around with a chainsaw is the perfect personification of my period.



I’d love to include more samples, but at some point you just need to say – go read this book! Honestly, I think it took longer to pick my three favorite comics to include in this post than to read the whole thing! Highly recommended!

This is a cute collection of comics and a quick read but it's nothing too special to me. I don't have much to say about this book as it's the typical 3 star to me. It's enjoyable and good but I don't feel anything about it except just meh.

I loved this book even more than the first! It felt more personal. I relate so much to her as an introvert. It's good to laugh about it with someone who obviously feels every social interaction as painfully as you do. ;)

Like the first one, this one is a quick read too. But I didn't relate to this on as much - I'm not deeply introverted, I don't like cats (or dogs) and I don't have a boyfriend or anyone to steal sweaters from and I don't want to because Bombay's heat is just so bad. 

The art is fine, if rather simplistic and the comics that aren't story-material are ones we've already seen before on the site or on Facebook.

3 Stars and a C - I missed colour, every comic was black and white in this collection.
