Bloodhound Beka Cooper: Book 2
Reviews

Okay, I love Tamora Pierce, She's my absolute FAVE author, inspired me to start writing, etc, etc. I have not met a book by her I didn't like. And I still haven't. I don't NOT like this one... I just don't particularly like it as much as some other books. It's just not the type of book that interests me. Beka Cooper is George Coopers great-great-great-times-a-lot-of-greats grandmother or something, and it's really ironic, because beka is a 'dog' which is what the police were called back then, and as we all know, George is the King of Thieves. that irony amused me. beyond that... the story is written like a diary, which is not a style i find enjoyable to read. first person, third person, i'm okay with. diary format? doesn't do it for me. the plot is also a little dry, if you ask me. I got through the first one okay, but i was barely hanging on by the end of this one. I'm not even attempting Mastiff. sorry, this just isn't my Favorite book of all-time.

ACHOO, MY PRECIOUS PUP

I love all her stuff. I like this one a lot. Mystery with out murder, and very little magic. Or rather, magic isn't the focus of the book. It's hard to guess what will happen next. Also: it's really long. DEFINITELY would be hard to finish in one sitting.

I really like this main character but the story did drag at points. It was a fun story and i love the way was told but it did drag at points.

Well, this wasn't an easy read. While I don't remember much about the first book, you actually don't need to, which was nice. I have only one complaint, and that's the lingo. The terms here are utterly unique to this trilogy in the Tortall Universe. While it adds a depth, it also makes it harder to read. I would have finished this sooner if it wasn't for the terms driving me nuts. But as you see, this is still a very good book. The plot's a tad bit predictable, but every time I thought I had something down, turns out there was a part that I never saw coming. Very enjoyable I recommend this to all fantasy and crime show lovers out there! A mix of both, I couldn't put this down until I found out what was going on and how it ended!
