Maybe 3.5 A quick, entertaining read that I needed after finishing a couple of big, dense books. The romantic couple was not a favorite, but the suspense plot was good and there were nice developments in the overarching plot and worldbuilding. I am intrigued by possibilities going forward, especially with characters like Nikita Duncan and Sascha Duncan. Also, the political stand-off that occurs in the Psy Council. I like checking in with the changeling packs and their community atmosphere. There are always themes of family in this series. Showing both the complicated and even traumatic side as well as loving and healing. Chosen family is valued as highly as biological bonds in these books. Even more so often because it is a choice and biology does not dictate bonds or feelings between family members.

Mmmmm Unlike the books about then changelings butter than just the Psy ones the Psy ones made more slower and my my kind of pace.

** spoiler alert ** ALL THE STARS. All of them. This is my favorite one so farπππ

Not gonna lie, my expectations were lower with this book. The last book was meh and I just wasn't feeling it. I thought it was because the two MCs weren't part of the chanfelings at all but turns out that wasn't an issue here. I adored Max and Sophie and was instantly swept up in their story. There wasn't as much action in this one (like actual fighting drama action not the sexual kind just to clarify, you know what you're getting on that side of things). And I think I liked that even if that's surprising considering Sophie is a J and so deals with criminals and Max is a defective so again lots of criminals. But their romance was low drama. Yes Sophie had some Psy stuff which could be an issue but was never an obstacle. Great to not have to have another miraculous she dropped out of the net and miracle of miracles was saved by some tiny obscure thing which shouldn't have been possible (honestly, some of the resolutions to the whole Psynet issue have had my eyes rolling right out of my head). Maybe I enjoyed this one more because I took a break from the series and so had a chance to remember all of what makes it so great. I don't know but whatever it was this book worked and ticked all of my boxes. I think Max might be up there in my favourites because he wasn't unbearably alpha and overbearing like come of the Changelings are. He was a little alpha but he was more overprotective from a life of having little to no family and losing those closest to him. I reckon he had good reason for it and Sophie didn't mind (I know she's called Sophia but since Max thinks of her as Sophie I kind of can't help it).

Another one that really isn't my favorite. It moves plot along though.

Mmmmm Unlike the books about then changelings butter than just the Psy ones the Psy ones made more slower and my my kind of pace.
