Protective Heart

I've been friends with Everly since she moved to my small town a few years ago. Even though we’re opposites in every sense of the word, we click, which is why I don’t want to cross that line despite our undeniable attraction. Relationships and me just don't mix, and what she and I have is too good to take a chance on something more. For years, I've told myself I'm okay that we’re firmly in the friend zone.
