           I was intrigued by this book because one day, at random, I came across L. J. Shen's Instagram reel where she claimed that Broken Knight is the most romantic book she'd ever written. Romantic it is not. The friendship, relationship, and chemistry between the two leads were incredibly lacking and even toxic. Knight had absolutely no redeeming qualities. Luna - and her actions - is simply confusing. And the part where ***SPOILER ALERT*** Rosie tried to sic Dixie on Dean after she dies? That's just cringe. Almost DNF'ed at 30% when every word I read made me dislike the characters more and more, but I pushed through it (with the patience of a hungry toddler waiting for his food), because I'd started reading this, and wanted to finish it just so I could put this on my finished-books list for this year. Still consider it a major waste of my time.

I knew I was going to enjoy this book because Knight was such a lovable character in Pretty Reckless. Did I know that my heart was going to get completely stomped on and put through a paper shredder? Fuck no.But I loved it regardless. LJ Shen has such a knack for telling a beautiful story. The story telling was so organic and perfectly paced. I loved the complexity and the intertwining of all the different (albeit heartbreaking) stories. And holy hell the parents of these kids. Those mini slices of heaven when we got their POV made me fall in love with the series even more... And then I found out there’s a whole series on them PRIOR to this one?! I almost lost it. My life will be consumed with the Todos Santos community this entire month!

I hope Dean and Dixie become best friends and nothing more.

I love Luna so deeply it’s pretty damn insane.

Incredibly flawed humans finding love and a HEA ... what’s not to enjoy? If you are a fan of the leading authors of new young adult then you will enjoy. 

Take a trip to Todos Santos and get caught up in it all.

I admit I didn't expect their story to be this way, but I guess... in a way we all wanted to know if the history between Cole and Spencer will repeat itself :))) Surprise! I worked fantastically :))) Thank God they had Vaughn! I was going to beat the crap out of Knight with that attitude and then beat Luna for what she did. She knows exactly what she did! Knight is really Dean's son. Even if not biological his son, he took so much after his father that you forget Knight is adopted.
Also, this book has something nobody can run away from. DEATH. I love how that particular moment in the Coles family is written and it has a huge impact on the characters and also the readers. Ar a reader, is something you really know will happen, especially when is a spin-off with the kids involved. If there were readers that hoped it didn't happen, well... get real, that is life.

One of my favorite part of this book was when Luna finally had the talk with Trent. I actually started trembling from emotion and I was like: "YEEES, YEESSS! FINALLY! THE BEST GIFT TRENT COULD RECEIVE FROM HIS DAUGHTER!" I was so happy for them [yes, I know, fictional characters. I still am happy for them]. 
Vaughn-Luna moment. Hell, I really wanted Vicious and Dean to witness it :))) I know, I'm evil, but I really hoped they pop out from somewhere, Vicious with a big devilish smirk on his face and Dean with his mouth falling to the floor :))) Sadly... didn't happen. But still, I loved that scene.

I have just moved this to into my top 5 favourite books (it might even my overall favourite)!! It’s so emotional and my heart was breaking from the beginning to the end. My flood gates opened and I sobbed. Like, I had to take a crying break before picking it back up again that’s how emotional it made me. 

Luna and Knight deserve the world and all the happiness and I love them so much.

I really enjoyed this book. I absolutely LOVED knight. He’s a lot different from a lot of heroes you see these days. I loved his softness, his feelings.
I flip flopped on Luna. I didn’t get why she was angry with him when she rejected him. I did like her strength though, and liked how she developed.
I liked how these two developed together.
Story-wise, I thought it kind of went in circles, and was a little too character-driven. At times I wanted to see what else was going on in their lives; classes, football, just to have a bit of a palette cleanser.
Still, this book is intense, it’s raw, it’s pretty great. I highly recommend!

This is gonna be the rantiest of rant reviews.

I AM SO MAD RIGHT NOW!

First off, I’d like to say that I respect every book that has the ability to stir such raw and powerful emotions in me. Other than Rosie there has been ONLY ONE character whose death I mourned this painfully. And this says fucking plenty. That’s the only reason I’m giving this 3 stars. 

So from where should I start? From the fact that Luna and Knight’s relationship basically didn’t have an exploration at all? More than half of the book (supposedly) was solely about Luna and Knight’s feelings for one another. But all they did was being stupid, ignorant and spiteful. They got together so later in the book that I didn’t even care if they’d end up together or not. 

What was the plot really? I couldn’t quite catch. Enlighten me, please. 

Luna was boring as fuck! Even though I liked reading about how she got out of her shell and grew a backbone she still seemed an insubstantial female protagonist for me. I liked her so much in SOS and “Pretty Reckless.” She seemed so interesting to know more about. But once I got in her head all I could see was her stupidity and indecisiveness. And in Knight’s case, all I could see was his ignorance. 

The worst part to read? 
Rosie.
Rosie, Rosie, Rosie, Rosie, Rosie! 
How she faded away so slowly and painfully. How she asked Luna to make sure Dean moves on. How she said her goodbyes.
Let me tell you one thing: The Coles Deserved so much better!
I feel like the only reason LJ Shen killed Rosie off was for Knight to have a fucking storyline because other than mourning her mother (or maybe, motherS) he hasn’t been indulged in anything. No other depth to his character. Not even to his relationship with Luna. 
I will always, always be bitter that we had to go through Rosie’s death just to see how Deans falls for Dixie less than 10 pages later. I get that he shouldn’t be single his whole life. But no one will ever replace Rosie. Ever! And it was so ignorant on Shen’s part to not give us a fucking second to catch a breath after Rosie’s death. 
This is heartless!
I may be in a minority on this one. Maybe not. I don’t know. But it feels wrong that Dixie, of all people, is his new love interest. Let alone so soon!! Dean being with Knight’s both moms...IT IS JUST WEIRD AND ON TOP OF THAT NOT RIGHT! If there’s Lev’s book—or any other book at this point—in which he’ll call Dixie “mom” I swear I’ll fucking riot!
It definitely wasn’t fair that we’ve been put through such traumatic—yes, fucking traumatic—experience of losing Rosie and poof, out of fucking nowhere, we stumble upon Dean and Dixie being a potential “thing.” 
Bullshit!
But I actually saw this once coming and dreaded it. LJ Shen has the tendency of dropping fucked up drama in every book I’ve read by her. 

I am an emotional wreck! I’ve been sobbing for hours! HOURS GODDAMNIT! I will never ever forget this. Nor forgive.

           When I started Sinners Of Saints, I don't expect that I fall in love with all characters, so L. J. Shen came with the sons and daughters off my favorites and I fall in love again, more and hard than the last time. Luna since her first appeared I love her. She became a really strong woman in this book and I love to see this. Luna is my favorite from All Saints, she is amazing and I love her so much.
My feeling for Knight is kinda hated and love at the same time. He makes me feel angry, happy, and a lot of feelings reading this book. But I love this idiot. I love both of them, Luna e Knight is my favorite couple all the time. Thank you, L. J. Shen, for this book and your other novels. You became one of my favorites authors.

I'm speechless. I really am. Two best friends pining for each other for the longest time was top tier DELICIOUS AND EXQUISITE. BUT what really made me give this book 5 solid stars is the story telling of Knight's parents. It was executed so perfectly that I couldn't stop sobbing towards the end. Yea Angry God and Broken Knight def takes the crown as LJ Shen's greatest creations.

Second book I’ve read from this author and what i’ve concluded is that all their stories are amazing. The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is the writing style. 

The story would be a lot more tolerable and shorter if the author didn’t describe every little in important detail. They would go on to describe a street light in a full essay before getting to the point.

This book is perfect for people with an immense amount of patience and the vocabulary of an 80 year old and 15 year old rolled up into one.

where to begin with this dumpster fire of a book? i guess i wanna mention first the problem i had with the direction the author took this book in and the way she developed luna and knight's relationship and each character separately, because i feel like these characters were completely different from what we've known from them in previous books. luna's character, especially, felt like she made a 180 in this novel. i found her to be completely hypocritical. there are so many things she said to knight that enfuriated me, like this for example:

"stop being a hypocrite, you have a girlfriend now. you moved on. you don't have the right to get mad when i kiss other people. you don't own me" 

when she did THE EXACT SAME THING for like the first 30% of this book! she's turned knight down like 3 or 4 times and then slaps him when she sees him hooking up with other girls, like honey is everything ok at home?? you turned him down!!! you friendzoned him multiple times! you stated that you wanted things to remain as they are, for you and him to remain as friends and to never take the relationship further when knight's clearly been showing you that he wanted to take it further and you denied him, so what gives you the right to be possessive towards him when he's with someone else? i didn't understand her train of thought AT ALL, and that's my problem with what the author did. she created all this "angst" that was just pure bullshit and stupidity with no logic at all. i can't buy the angst that you're selling me when you're not founding it in actual reasons that are logical or reasonable. when you make luna's character be this hypocrite i cannot side with her and cannot see her point of view because she's showing no logic in what she's saying or doing.

i felt like knight was being led on since the beginning of the book, albeit he did a lot of fucked up things too, especially towards luna, but i feel like he was the one i could actually understand the most. he's been in an awful, fucked up and messed up mental state, he's been a raging alcoholic for the entirety of the book so i can see why he would lash out towards luna, again, not excusing him but understanding where he comes from, but i couldn't see luna's pov at all, because she was the one who decided she wanted nothing to do with knight. she said she couldn't be with him because she was never her own person and because knight never allowed her to be her own person when i've never seen knight doing any of the sort. a direct quote of what she says:

"knight wanted to keep me small and his and the dumbass that i was i'd let him have his way" 

excuse me but "keep me small"?? wtf does she even mean? being overprotective does not mean you are not allowing this person to grow or to be her own person. i've never seen him doing anything remotely like that in these two books of the series, the author has never given us a reason to believe in that, so why is now luna saying she cannot be with knight because she can't be her own person? wtf does that even mean? i wish 'finding herself' would have been more than just showing her hooking up with everyone. i thought she was going away just to be her own person, maybe we could have been shown the struggles of becoming independent, of being on your own in this whole new mature and adult environment, dealing with classes and the pressure and anxiety that going to college causes, and making friends and being on your own. all of that would have been better to emphasize how she "became her own person" instead of showing us how she is making out with daria and kissing vaughn like wtf was even that??? what was the point of that other than being fucking clickbait? i cannot see her own person based solely on who she is hooking up with. i cannot see her as anything other than the person who is constantly creating drama and ridiculous fights between her and knight BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT SIT THE FUCK DOWN AND TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY CONSTANTLY KEPT SEEING AND DOING! you are supposed to be 19 and 18 years old yet you are behaving like fucking 12 years old (and you expect me to believe that they are mature enough to bring a child into this world and become PARENTS WHEN THEY CANNOT EVEN HAVE A GODDAMNED MATURE CONVERSATION FOR 5 MINUTES??? MISS ME WITH THAT BULLSHIT)

i was done, so fucking done with their pointless teenage drama i lost YEARS of my life reading about their constant fights. and to be fair, i found their "relationship" actually kinda toxic. a toxic relationship can envelop a whole different kind of behaviors and i cannot say theirs was a healthy one. it was toxic the way they kept being possessive and jealous over each other, not talking things trough, making assumptions and ACTING on those assumptions, cheating, etc. a fucking mess, that's what this was. the feeling i got from reading this is that the author put as a priority to make this the angstiest book she's ever written but in order to do that she completely disregarded her own characters' depth and turned them into actors in a cliché cw teenage drama instead of developing them and the plotline of the book like they deserved.

now about THAT ending. to be fair, i didn't think shen was gonna have the balls to do it, but she did it. on the one hand, i have to give her props for going there because not many authors have the guts to do that to a main character and she pulled through. on the other hand, the whole making luna play the match-maker was ridiculous. THAT IS NOT HOW LIFE WORKS EVERYONE!! you don't force people who don't know each other at all to be together just because you decided so, especially after losing the love of his life!! it would have been enough for rosie to say to dean that when the time came and he felt ready it was completely okay for him to move on with his life and find someone if that's what he wanted. but to force him to be with dixie??? AGAIN, THAT'S NOT HOW LIFE WORKS!!! shen was trying to go for something poetic like "rosie was the mother to knight when dixie couldn't be, so now that rosie is gone dixie is gonna be there for levy and knight", which for me is ridiculously unrealistic. and for that to happen only one year after rosie dies? yeah miss me with that bullshit.

i don't even know why i keep reading this author's books when it's clear by now that i hate them more than enjoy them, i guess my two brain cells just wanna see this series through. i'm gonna read vaughn's book cause i think it's gonna serve me the gothic power couple that i very much deserve but i ain't keeping my hopes up.

This book. This book broke me. This book fixed me. This book tore me to shreds. This book lifted me up and brought me joy.

Such a roller coaster of emotions, for a truly fantastic book. I feel like this one is really the culmination of so much of L.J.’s hard work over the years on the Sinners of Saint series and now the All Saints High series.

I adore all of the angsty, nail biting and infuriating moments these books put me through because it’s always, always worth it in the end.

Definitely excited for the story of our dark prince, Vaughn, next. 😏
