Can You Keep a Secret?

Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets: Secrets from her boyfriend: I've always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken. Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur. Secrets she wouldn't share with anyone in the world: I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is. Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger.…Until Emma comes face-to-face with Jack Harper, the company's elusive CEO, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her...

The set up reminds me of Lost Found by Jane Sigaloff (2004). There the set up is a lost diary on an airplane results in a reunion and a romance. Here it is the sharing of secrets. These secrets cleave the new couple in both senses of the word. As the company sells a variety of snacks and Emma's relationship with Jack also leads to improvements to the sales of some floundering foods, I'm also reminded of PopCo by Scarlett Thomas (2004) for the similar marketing culture and banter, even though the lead there was a games designer interested in codes and cyphers. What can I say, my brain works in odd ways. http://pussreboots.com/blog/2021/comm...

ką veikti, kai užpuola neskaitadieniai (more like neskaitasavaitės): 1. parsinešti iš bibliotekos Kinsellos knygą 2. perskaityti ją vienu prisėdimu, kaip visada, pripildant kambarį daug juoko ir aww garsų 3. prisiminti kaip gera skaityti ir vėl grįžti prie Doilio raštų

This book is so warm and funny and it just made me feel all kinds of feelings, Loved every single moment while reading it even tho it took me too long bcs of exams. It was so worth it and it’s just all in all so good. Not one moment did the main character made me cringe like in most romance books, this one was so funny and relatable i loved her! Feels good to finally read again

I thought it was going to be awesome, but it's too normal. And quite short for my taste. It was just, too simple. Nothing else, just simple. Like a diary of an ordinary woman with secrets.

This was one of those really cute fluffy reads with so much cliches that we should hate but we just can't help but read. It was just adorable. It really was. If there is one thing that Sophie Kinsella knows how to do, it is fluffy books and fun dialogue. Honestly I spent most of the book snickering and giggling. I even laughed out loud at times which is rare for me. Emma is a typical young adult. She is trying to find her place in this world. She also has a bunch of secrets she has kept from her friends, family and co workers. On a super scary plane ride, in a fit of panic, she tells a complete stranger every single little secret. Then that stranger turns out to be her boss. Emma was fun. I love her dialogue and her thought process. She was completely irrational at times but she meant well. I enjoyed learning about all her secrets. In all honesty, her secrets weren't that bad but they did hurt the feelings of several people she knew. I was really rooting for her and Jack. They had such a fun chemistry even though it was kind of insta love. Sometimes, insta love isn't always a bad thing. If you are looking for an in between book or a light read after reading some heavy stuff, I suggest this book. I finished it in about 3 hours (but I am an incredibly fast reader) so it honestly won't take long. Don't expect any deepness or anything like that. Just enjoy the ride of a fun, sometimes irrational young adult.

Cute fast read ! This book had me cracking up at some parts. Didn’t have the ending I wish it had but it was a good ending overall, but it left me wondering, what happened next? I would have loved an epilogue.

I've never had so much fun while reading a book. I actually laughed out loud. My only problem with this book is that I felt it could have an epilogue or something more.

So, I've read quite a few Sophie Kinsella books and this one is one of my favorite ones. It's a book almost any woman can relate to and it was still very funny like every book by Sophie Kinsella. It was also very quick and light to read. I will definitely continue reading Kinsella's books and she keeps getting higher on my all-time favorite authors list.

really wanted to like this, but the romance was ... uncomfortable. the guy was like cold oatmeal, i just. no. the only reason this gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because there were some super funny moments with the main character, like laugh-out-loud. kinsella clearly is a funny writer, but this was so off on so many points.

This was super cute and funny! Just the kind of light-hearted read I needed. Emma's inner monologue was hysterical! Everything just kept going from bad to worse but in the funniest way possible. Her flatmate Jemima though, dear lord that girl has to go!

I picked this book up on a whim, not sure if it was my taste or not. But I do not regret it. This book had me laughing all the way through! My only criticism really is rhe way it ended....but I could forgive that. It was just too good

Want a fun, fast read? This is your book. However, had this been a book on cd, I would have preferred it. Being the the first person, it becomes a little excessive as you read her every thought. All in all though, it was hilarious. A tad prolonged but fast and easy. I'd recommend it for a plane ride or vacation:)

Ok, so I'm not that big on Chick Lit. Like, at all. But then my friend gifted me this book right when I was in a reading stump(a.k.a. today) and all I thought was 'All right, this looks easy enough to help while still being long and complex enough to not finish it in one go'. Emma Corrigan is an office worker who doesn't really have a good relationship with her family, but does have a seemingly perfect boyfriend. The novel starts by showing us how crappy one of Emma's days was. In more detail, the day she was supposed to attend a meeting for securing the company she worked at a deal with another brand. On the plane back home, she thinks the plane is going to crash and ends up spilling all her secrets to the stranger sitting next to her. And that's when her life starts changing majorly. So the book was a bit cringey at first, but the characters and plot did grow on me eventually. I think I might even reread this book, which is weird, 'cause I hate rereading books. Also, I just searched the web and apparently there's also a movie starring Alexandra Daddario and Tyler Hoechlin. Cute.

A fun read, complete with wacky characters, crazy situations and lots of humor. I've read all the shopaholic series but I think this one is much better and makes it my favourite Sophie Kinsella novel so far.

Why would anyone write such a horrible book? There was little to no chemistry between the main character and the love interest. Hell, the sexual tension was prolly higher between the main character and that bodyguard. The guy had no personality except being rich. The main character’s friends were awful. And the main character herself was the most dislike-able person ever. God, I’m sorry but this book was a total waste of time.

I found this book so fun, it was a such a lighthearted read, and had me laughing out loud several times. The story plot is good and flows so well. I’m not the biggest fan of the romance genre, but this one I really got into. The characters are so easy to like , and Emma is the sort of girl I could relate to. Of course the full CEO of the company being the love interest is very cliche, but I did love the character of Jack. It was a fun and easy read, and one I would probably read again, but only really as a ‘holiday’ type read.
