Everywhere in the real world, Carl saw reflections of novels. To him, the city was populated with characters from books, even if those characters lived in quite different times, or far-off lands.

The master of the house would have loved to discuss books and authors in depth with Carl, whom he regarded as an educated, well-mannered man, and a kindred spirit. But with the passage of time, the words of invitation had escaped him. Perhaps he had lost them among the many rooms in his grand home.

"I'm so glad there are books in the world," she said. "I hope that's one thing that never changes! So many things do, and it happens so fast. Everyone pays with plastic money now. People give me such odd looks whenever I count out the right change at the till!"

Comparing a book to other better books is never a good way to go as it creates expectations.

Setiap malam, setelah toko tutup dia berjalan kaki melintasi jalan kota untuk mengantarkan buku kepada para pelanggan yang diam-diam dia namai sesuai tokoh dalam buku. Mereka adalah orang-orang yang menyendiri di rumah dan menjadikan Carl sebagai orang terpenting dengan dunia luar.

Buku The Door-to-Door Bookstore adalah buku yang ber-pace lambat tapi tetep bikin penasaran. Buku ini mengajak pembaca untuk memasuki dunia Carl Kollhoff, beserta ketakutan dan kemonotanan hidupnya. Menariknya tiap-tiap karakter ada pengembangan pada akhir cerita, kecuali Sabine Gruber. Tapi disini pembaca jadi tahu alasan Sabine Gruber rada sinis ke Carl Kollhoff. 

Meskipun buku ini 300 halaman, tapi fontnya cukup besar jadi gak berasa lama ketika baca. Overall kalo kamu cari buku yang heart-warming dan bikin penasaran, buku ini bisa jadi salah satu opsi. Selamat membaca!

Carl Kollhoff ist als "Buchspazierer" eine Institution in seiner Stadt, auch wenn die Uhren sich stetig weiterdrehen und nicht jeder möchte, dass er tut, was er tut. Jeden Tag dreht er seine Runde und bringt Bücher zu seinen Kunden, immer das, was sie sich wünschen. Diesen eingespielten Rhythmus durchdringt das Mädchen Schascha, aber sie tut mehr als das: Sie wirbelt Carls ganzes Leben durcheinander.
Dieses Buch ist für jeden, der Bücher mag, wie geschaffen. Es ist aber auch für jeden, der nicht so gerne liest, eine Bereicherung, denn es zeigt den Wert von Geschichten, die Kunst, das richtige Buch zu finden.
